Cingular Pulls the iPhone!!!!

wwehavok85

Just kidding. What I meant was they have pulled info about the iPhone. A few days ago, Engadget Mobile posted an article which included the internal CSP entry about the iPhone.

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/04/25/iphone-qand ... »

Since this happened, Cingular has removed ALL info about the iPhone, especially the actual Talking Points, from CSP. It now says that it is unavailable. Sounds like Cingular was PO'd about the leaked info.

HA!

I am sick of hearing about the iphone...at first I was real excited, especially with an 8 gig memory. Then I found out it wasn't 3G, then I found out that it doesn't have built in GPS, even though it does have google maps already installed (which makes absolutely no sense at all).

I even have an upgrade coming up this year, and I am the type that would spend the money on this type of phone but I have to ask myself, why replace my 8525, I just got the new ROM, it has PTT, Cingy Video, AT&T music, Sirius Sat Radio, I already have a BT GPS receiver and Windows Live, I am really not seeing the benefits to this phone any more.

They have talked about it way too much, and now they are going to pay the price of doing so.

I could care less about the lack of 3G, and im sure many people don't even know what 3G is.

It has WiFi which is 10x better than cingular's crappy 3g network.

What harm does that information pose? What's lost by having that information readily available in CSP? Plus it's not like there was any information there that was a radical revelation, or even anything that was a company secret there.

I work for a bunch of jerks. ☹️

i agree with nyyankees people 90% of people that will buy the iphone dont even know what 3g 2g is..this will be a status phone people its ment to look good while your talking on it..so everyone can see you on it and say...wow...he/she has the iphone..they must have money!!..this phone is for your paris hiltons for your high school cool people...and your southbeachers...and the artificialites...if your a hardcore pda tech nerdy kinda person this phone isnt for you.

Yes but it all goes back to the price, and most of those people either are going to get that money from their parents or working the part time job that they have for money to go out partying because they aren't adult enough to get a real job, and won't be able to afford it unless that sign over to cingular, and that is assuming that they are going to have perfect timing when there contract runs out or they will be spending around 150 more. And now I see that the iphone isn't the only phone that is coming out with similar features...at first I was going to buy it, because I can afford to, but now with the lacking of key ingredients, I don't want to have anything to do with it no matter how cool it looks...notice at the price it is at now, th...

good point and to answer your question...marketing...yes they can prob find a way to include all the features we like the 3g the removable battery...but think about it... First create teh hype for it..so it gets bought by the teenie boppers and celebrities...then release a iphone 2.0 with the included features so everyone will have to buy it again...its all about the money..just like music artitst that re-release their music album with "bonus tracks" and what happens? it sells again i.e. Usher confessions. beyonce Bday...the first wave of iphones will be an entry...then after its been seen used tested..the uprades will be made to get the rest of the public. Look at the razr...and look at the razr now same phone with extra upgrades.

yeah well just like with every thing there is always an upgrade, I already heard that there is going to be a 3G model later in 2007 or beginning 2008, but thats why I am saying its not going to be worth it until these changes are made...

also, will any company other than Verizon seriously look at built in GPS for their phones from now on. points of interests people, its helpful especially in a big city.

Two reasons:

Its not 3G (which has made a huge difference in my area)

and its not Windows based so I doubt I could run windows live, you can actually use windows live for turn by turn directions, that i have used with my BT GPS receiver, its fantastic, and free.

I dont think GPS will really catch on big in america on phones as it does in japan..Americans favor their privacy to much..and with a gps enabled phone..anyone can find you..when ever where ever...

then turn the locator off, and plus if they realized the point of interest benefits when they are arguing over what restaurant to drive to or what theatre to go to, or what is even near them, they will change their mind...but you can turn the location off.

but i get what you are saying, don't get me wrong.

Sprints dabling in the gps field with their treo 700p. but the downside is that you have to buy third party software tom tom navigation which costs an extra 200 buks. and on their prepaid side with boost mobile.

Why don't you stop hating? There's nothing absolutely concise about what exactly the price of phone is going to be. I read somewhere that the phone will have MIR's that will make the price lower, but again, this info is not completely confirmed. There's also features that have not been completely revelead. What feature those are; I have no clue. But they better be good cuz Apple is keeping the whole thing secret.. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to have UMTS

Ok but my big thing is that they already said it isn't going to be 3G or have built in GPS..that is what has been said, and maybe they will change the price, maybe they won't, but what has been said as the full retail is something I don't want to pay when I know that they can make a better version.

and the defintion of concise is "expressing much with little to no extraneous detail or words; not verbose; brief and precise"

so if you are going to use concise in the context of what you said, then you would say that they have been concise, meaning that they have said a lot about the product without going into too much detail.

I hope I don't get "hated on" by proper grammar, that is just how I "roll."
