MTi tool map

I don't trust this thing anymore, it's stopped being accurate for me, I get customers that claim they have really bad reception, I use the tool, (and I prove with the street where they live, and everything) and the map shows High as signal strength; and other times I use the tool and shows No Service, I mean the map is WHITE and they say they use their phone just fine!!! WTF? Is there another more reliable way to check signal strength than the MTi tool?

A customer saying they recv poor reception in a med to low are does not always mean a coverage problem... It could be the RF of that particular phone... They may have "noise" interference in their area (Meaning other types of frequencies that would interfere w/ the signal)... They may even be in a building that has aluminum plating etc... that reflects the signal... MTi will not take this into consideration bcz WE are not about to walk around w/ a cell phone everywhere saying "Can you hear me now?" (Funny)... Also as far as MTi stating no coverage but the cust phone working fine they're most likely roaming off of another providers network... MTi will not list another providers towers bcz it is a Map tool for our towers. (Hope this helps)

Ah that always reminds me of the people in Kentucky who always call in to ask why they can't use their phone inside their trailers

Yeah - that's a great show. I liked the one where they ruined the old Cadillac by dumping bleach in the engine, then they shot it full of holes.

I think the tool works great! I've had nothing but good things from the tool. The only complaint I have is that it will not show coverage in roaming areas, only cingular owned coverage.

The reason why someones' phone will work even if the MTi tool says there is no service is because it only shows CINGULAR service areas...lets not forget about our roaming partners...MTi tool is pretty useless!
