Fewest dropped calls...

anarchy

Mar 14, 2007, 8:10 PM
...This may actually be true, because in Baltimore county its hard to even get a call to go through, which makes perfect sense. you cant drop a call that never went through in the first place.

Even when you do have service you don't have the fewest dropped calls 😁 (ie. New York, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles) 😲

You couldn't sense the sarcasm dripping off my words? While the Cingular/ATT merger wasn't done perfectly, what is? All things considered, it is paying dividends now for Cingular, as now that the merger is complete and integration has been completed, they have a much more reliable/robust network, 3G in a growing number of areas, and have the claim to the largest consumer base. Whether you liked the merger or not, there's no denying that Cingular (the new at&t) is in a much better position now than they were before the merger.

Well, you have to also take into account they aren’t the same as before because AT&T, BLS were all separate companies and now they are 1 company giving Cingular (The new AT&T) wireless’ division new assets and one culture instead of two. It is a lot different then having a joint venture with many cultures and management styles then with one ownership and one culture. I do actually like the new AT&T and think they will be a dominant player in this industry, problem is, can they implement their strategies and what would they focus on; wireless or wire line. As you can see Verizon is caring really about wire line then wireless so it will be interested to see what AT&T will do.

I have to say that I have not noticed a difference in service. I was with Verizon for years and their signal and call performance were excellent...no problems at all. But I got tired of boring, crippled phones and fewer options. I switched to Cingular about a month ago and I honestly have not noticed a difference. I always have a great signal (SE w300i), I have not dropped a call yet, and the call quaility has been great. Plus, for the exact same price as my VZW plan, I have 50 more minutes per month plus rollover. Not to mention all of the stuff my new phone will do!

Glad to hear it! Honestly, I think personal experience with Cingular AT&T would convince 80% of the "non-believers" that their network is just as good as Verizon's.

Enjoy!

Also being with Cingy for just more than a month after 9 years with VZW I would almost agree with you concerning similar service (at least here in NYC-NJ) except for one and really annoying thing.

In almost every big shop (e.g supermarket, Costco, etc.) where VZW will have a signal even in far most corner both of my Cingy phones (Blackjack and Moto) have no signal even in the middle of the space.

Otherwise here in Manhattan and Jersey City and around I would rate coverage and quality of both VZW and Cingy more or less on par - Cingy sucks in parts of Brooklyn (especially, again, inside houses), VZW has problems with signal on upper floors of Midtown office buildings.

I think this is because NYC is a 1900MHz market. If I'm not mistaken it is 100% 1900MHz. πŸ˜•

Hmmm...I haven't experienced that myself. Around here I can use my Cingular phone in my office, at the mall, in the middle of huge stores like Wal-Mart, and even down in my basement...all with a good signal.
