fed up with cingular's confusing & manipulative bs

i've been researching their plans for a while now in here and on their site and besides the insulting fact they expect $40 for an internet package that other carriers charge $20 for they couldn't've made it more confusing with their media net, smartphone connect and pda connect packages. what is the difference between all of these besides price especially between smartphone connect and media net? as you can see even a large number of cingular reps in here and outside of here are confused about these plans and their compatible phones. What ever happened to the simple purchasing of internet? i can't wait til metro gets some pda phones and evdo.

Metro PCS?

Wow....

Yeah, Metro is not going to have anything to compete with Cingular is this arena anytime soon.

Good luck on your search guy, there is a reason Verizon and Cingular has higher data prices. They invest billions of $$ in their data network, unlike Metro PCS.

well tell me why it's worth double what alltell and sprint charge? granted sprint's coverage just sucks which is why i'm leaving but what about alltel? with their superior coverage in my area, i'm betting(hoping) that their evdo internet will be as good or comparable to cingular's for half the price.

Go ahead and try. I know here Alltel's coverage is not too great and they don't even offer EVDO. You also can't roam with their EVDO.

If their limited coverage is good enough for you then go for it. It isn't good enough for many, many others. You already know what it is like to have inferior coverage with Sprint.

Not sure why you wanted a comparison AFTER you admitted Sprint's coverage sucked. Answered your own question didn't you?

"Not sure why you wanted a comparison AFTER you admitted Sprint's coverage sucked. Answered your own question didn't you?"

because coverage is area dependant so i asked the question regardless of the area from a general pov.

BUT,

They already have a reputation for not having superior coverage AND you already personally experienced said lack of coverage.

Good luck with Alltel.

It boils down to are you willing to pay 1/2 the price for an inferior service...

Verizon and Cingular (No Flames- depends on personal experience) have greater coverage and bigger networks. I mean Verizon has very good coverage and reliability. Cingular (The New ATT) has ingenuity backing them. I mean Cingular is getting ready to launch 3.6 Mbps HSDPA and Verizon Rev. A. ATT just announced they passed T-mobile in Hot-spots Or WiFi.

Think about it this way. You can buy a Honda or Toyota for 20K or a Hyundai or Kia for 10K. You get pretty much the same but what about the reliability and performance? Its your choice.

So in the end Who is Metro or Alltell compared to ATT and Verizon....? 😉

you're other option is t-mobile. they have data plans starting at $9.99. the most common one is the one for $19.99 though, giving you pretty much unlimited everything.

When I tried Alltel, I found the coverage wasn't something to write home about. The fact that I had to go outside to get a decent signal to make a call was very annoying.

Fortunately, I was able to cancel the contract even though I was a few days past the 30 day period. The store I went to was very understanding about it.

Media net is for normal phones and the plans for it access it through a proxy server. Smartphone connect on the otherhand does not access the internet the same way due to the fact it has internet explorer and gives you more of a normal internet experience. Connect through a proxy would basically cause conjestion for the data devices and may also cause some websites not to load on them. the pda plans work the same way as a smartphone but basically is more money as people generrally use the internet way more on them due to the conveinience of full keyboards and the like. If you want a data device but dont want to pay the proper price for the service than maybe you just dont need it. were not the only carrier out there but the coverage and the...

the name of the company says it all. metro pcs. that means metropolitan areas. if i lived in the middle of wyoming i'd want to go with the best MAJOR service provider unless metro pcs had coverage there, and if i felt this was the better way to go AS IT WOULD SUIT ME NOT EVERYONE ELSE.

and its not just cingular its all major companies that know exactly how the majority of people will overlook certain details over and over again, and they just get a kick out of it, most importantly to them...MONEY! so all your friends inform them of those little details so everyone stops getting played like sum suckaz. and if u aint getting robbed from the industries and u really don't care, i tell u to keep your guard up cuz u may just end up getti...

The problem is that (as a former employee) at&t is reverting back to the the old at&t wireless customer service, horrible. They have decided to price themselves out of the market and aren't even slated to build out any new towers until 2009 at the earliest. All of that to go to the CEO pockets. They will not change anything until the churn numbers start to rise or even spike. I still feel that GSM is far superior network to CDMA, because of the unlimited capability to continue to expand the spectrum and make it faster. Therefore the reason I went to T-Mobile, awesome customer service and same coverage and price friendly. That is what happens when a european company comes to the US, forward thinking and pricing.
