Tower In My Area
i have cingular in metro detroit. GP to be exact. my service was fine this morning 3/5/07. then i didn't have any service, nethier did anyone with cingular at my high school. then i came home to find my family without service also. i called cingular to see whats up. they have no idea. well apparently the tower in my local area fell and the result...no service. has this ever happened to anyone else?

Wow, interesting. Roseville area and effected by the problem also. Anyone have ideas when phone service will be restored?

1 tower falling will not take out an entire area . fyi 1 tower will only service about 3-5 miles of flat land so there is a bigger issue at hand here

FYI the issue is all fixed. And I apologize for making it seem like the town that i live in is a big area. It actually only covers 3-5 miles of land. But I went to best buy on Gratiot, I wouldn't think Roseville was effected, my phone worked there.

I was on my lunch hour around 1ish, and no serivce in the 15 and gratiot area. But just checked my phone now and everything seems a OK~ 😎

Engineering is currently investigating an issue with the Bloomfield MSC E164 in our Detroit market. Customers are experiencing no service and incoming calls are routing to voice mail.
The system has recovered at approximately 1:40pm. We are still investigating but it appears an unknown vendor change in the switch was the cause.
Service has been restored.
Outage time: 3/5/07 - 10:50 am to 1:40 pm (170 minutes).
Effected area was serviced by the Bloomfield MTSO. It effected Wayne county south to approx Ford Rd, Oakland north to approx M59 and Macombnorth to approx Metro Beach.
