Thoughts on the Sync...

My upgrade date is coming up next week and I am considering going with the Sync. For those of you that have it or have experience with it, what do you think about it? Samsungs have never been too hot with Cingular but the D807 hasn't seemed to have any problems.

i had the sync for a while, its ok, i did notice the battery life wasnt the best, and the outside screen is poor, besides that it wasnt bad.

I've had the w810i, LG cu500, SYNC, and now the v3xx...

I would by far recommend the v3xx....

the SYNC works great just don't like the external display and the mp3 buttons, no voicedial

the LG CU500 doesnt get as good reception as the other three, no voicedial

The w810i is great but no 3G and is a Bar style, small keypad

the v3xx has absolutely no lag in the UI, is the only phone that is actually more advanced than the network, and is a very sturdy phone(very solid).

if you want any more input let me know, didnt want to get too detailed..lol

no thats great i appreciate the input. the reason im leaning towards the Sync over say the w810 is because of price. Ive got a dealer plan thats only $25 a month so it doesnt pay out ****. i have to throw myself on a new 2 yr just to get the price of the phone to a reasonable amount. i havent checked out walmart or radio shack yet though, but i doubt they could do much better, what with the fat discount im giving myself

i would still reccomend the v3xx though over the SYNC, i had the SYNC for a couple months, its hard to open with one hand, outside display sucks, mp3 controls are heat sensative and are very funny, and the v3xx pretty much tops it in every category

If you do, get the SYNC and don't get the Motorola V3xx or LG CU500

I have the Sync and I think it's a pretty neat phone. I haven't had a chance to get the cables that hook it up to your computer or a headset, but overall I think it's a pretty nice phone. Reception is nice and the bluetooth works nice on it as well. The more and more I use the phone, the more I like it.

The only thing that drives me crazy is the external display and how it doesn't light up at all, so you have to open it up to see what the time is.

you can light it up, but its a pain, you have to hold the side external button down for a second,

The external features of that phone are what drove me crazy about it, i really like the phone as well....i had been comparing it to the LG CU500 i owned prior to that phone.

I went from the SYNC, which i still have lying in my room, to the V3xx. I have never been much of a razr fan, but this phone has absolutely no lag when moving from screen to screen, snaps pictures the moment i want it to, unlike my SYNC which i swear had a min. of a second delay, which doesn't sound like much but it can drive you crazy. (cause you think its captured the picture then you move it and it becomes blurred).

In all honesty there is nothing about the ...

I'm curious of the reception on the V3xx? Only because it's not a quadband? Especiall in rual areas or more so in Minnesota areas???

it's not quadband, but that doesn't matter in the states, it has no bearing in the U.S. as long as it has GSM 850(which it does) and GSM 1900(which is cingular's back-up network, and it has that also) then it doesn't matter what other freq's it does or doesn't have unless you are planning to go out of the country and roam internationally.

The reception has been great, beats my SYNC...where i work we lose all signal in our backroom, with my SYNC i was able to hang on to some calls, with the v3xx i don't even notice a difference in quality.

Back to the Quadband issue, ever heard of the Nokia 6010? it gets the best reception or equal the reception of just about any phone and it's only dual-band.

If you do decide to get a v3xx, don't g...

the gold looks horrible, it looks like some cheap, fake, oversized jewelry.

Just style reasons....the gold should function the exact same if thats what your getting at.

Agreed about the v3xx... I've hated Motorola (both for myself and the problems that so many customers have with them), but just little details about it made me love this phone.

One of my favorite things is that not only is it A2DP Stereo Bluetooth capable, but it also plays through a standard mono bluetooth. I often am listening to The Game with my WEP200 while speaking with customers. It also plays a wider range of file types the the CU500 and Sync. I sometimes had a hell of a time finding ringtones to work with those phones.

Tethering to a laptop produces results of 921 kbps in a 3g area with next to no hiccups.

just some not-so-obvious things minor things that I've noticed...

When using an external application, the CU500 and v3xx asks every time if you want to allow the app to use the internet connection. With the SYNC, there's an ask once option.

wow, everytime is an understatement, everytime you go to download a new portion of the map, geeze......

Oh, well...its not something i really use but if i did, it would be a pain,

Hopefully they will use the OTA updates to correct this for my v3xx.

I currently have the Sync. After about 45 days with it I have concluded (1) the interior screen is superb and makes web browsing nice, (2) the ask once option for external Java apps is nice, (3) the speakerphone is not nearly loud enough, (4) RF is not as good as my old Razr or my daughter's Motorola, (5) there is often a warbling type of distortion which is irritating, apparently caused when reception is marginal, (6) earpiece volume is not quite loud enough, (7) lack of voice dialing is an inconvenience but not critical, and (😎 I have had problems synching with an older Motorola bluetooth headset. All in all, I am looking for another phone. If the v3xx did not look like such a dated design, I would get it.

i agree, i have never been a razr fan, but other than the (2) lack of the ask once option for apps. this is by far the best phone i have ever owned.....

.....the design is still cool enough, the ketpad looks cooler, you wouldn't be disappointed with this phone.
