Black Jack and Data usage

OK I'm in the market for a new phone, I want to know if anyone actually had the media max 1000 or 3000 plan 29.99 and 39.99. I would like to get the phone with one of these plans so it will include unlimited Internet and text messages. Is it possible?

The Blackjack is a PDA and requires PDA connect for internet not media net. You would have to go with the PDA Connect Max for 49.99 per month which would give you unlimited internet and 1000 text per month. Hope that helps.

not true it is a smart phone and most reps will try to push u in to a pda plan but u only need the smart phone plan for 19.99 then u can add txt to that 3000 for 19.99

I guess that you never read the rebate form that says in order to receive your rebate you need to have a 39.99 data plan or 19.99 text plan. yes the black jack is essentially a smartphone however because its a 3g smartphone with a keyboard, cingular views it as a pda. its stupid but thats the current policy.

with a PDA as long as you have an unlimited data plan of some sort you are fine.....the only stipulation would be if you are trying to get a rebate...in any case once you get the rebate you can always change to a media max plan and you will be fine.....i have put it to the test through the billing systemm numerous times....if you want to be cautious though then do not register your devices imei in cingular's system...this way they have no way of telling which kind of device your using........

its a rip off

Cingular biews it as if you have that device they should be able to get so much money out of you....but hey its a business and to be the best you have to make your money somewhere...but those who know dont have to pay!!!!!!

Sure the phone may work on a cheaper data plan however cingular says the proper plan is the 39.99 pda connect. this has been covered in several of our meetings. It has also been brought to our attention that customers with the wrong plan would be changed to pay per use once discovered. unfortunate but its true and cingular is legally able to do this as per ther terms of service.

Im sorry but we got a memo from the person at cingular headquarters in Remond WA that is in charge of data features and he said that the blackjack is not a smartphone it is a pda and if cingular catches anyone using smartphone connect on a blackjack they would remove the feature and put them on pay per use which would give them a huge bill. So if you feel like takeing the chance go ahead but i wouldnt want to risk getting a bill in the thousands of dollars range.

dangparts you are incorrect the Blackjack is a PDA! If you work for Cingular you should know this it is highly stressed each week in the conference call!

You can get the PDA unl internet with 1000 text for $44.95 or the unl internet for $34.99 and then add the 3000 text for $19.99

If you go with a regular smartphone interent package it will work but when you get caught Cingular has the right to backdate charges. In my opinion its better to be safe than sorry.

It has what it has. The OS isn't the question here, what data package it's supposed to be on is.

Well no, it's not really a question. All the literature and training and supervisors say it requires the PDA connect. I'd either have your sister turn off her internet or switch it to a PDA plan.

Regardless of what the rep said, they were wrong. You might be able to talk yourself out of paying any backdated fees, but they wouldn't let you keep the plan. I'd just change the plan now to avoid any of that in the future.

On the N80, Cingular never officially supported it so there's not much red tape to get into. That phone doesn't have a qwerty keyboard, so they wouldn't view it as a PDA device. It should be able to use the regular MEdia packages without any trouble.

OS does not determine data. If cingular trains their reps for this then you should follow, but not that i imagen you care, this sounds like the words of a shady rep who make better blackjack sales cause they put them on the wrong plan.

here we go again, it CLEARLY states in the rebate form that you need the PDA pack to get your rebate, and cingular says it DOES require it. it can use the smartphone plan, but cingular can catch that. I don't like reps who push smartphone pda on the blackjack, it just shady. it's like saying you can use the blackberry 29.99 on the regular pdas.

Anyone with this phone do this...

Push start, go to Cingular Music, click option 4 (streaming music), read what this says...

For those who work at Cingular is says this...

Cingular strongly recommends that you subscribe to a Media Max data bundle.

So tell me again that I need the PDA plan!!!!

It says that for every phone, the website you go to doesn't differentiate between what kind of phone you are accessing it from. Do this for me: Go to Cingulars website, shop phones, select the Blackjack, then go to the other features options, the only data option it has is the PDA connect. So you need a PDA plan you twit.

i am seriously getting tired of this conversation
people obviously don't check the forums be4 they ask a question

i can't stress that enough to u people especially the customers that really do know but fight it

i heard this guy say i have had a media max plan for the last 2 years on his sisters phone/pda

are u forgetting that this new technology (UMTS/3G) requires data plans for streaming purposes
which in turn EATS UP TONS OF DATA?

no phone be4 that ever used that kinda data so now we can watch TV and all kinds of other cool things on our phones which was Non-Existent years ago!

so if your using a media max plan and it works GREAT but keep in mind u can't h...

Ya, I didn't think about the tons of data thing. So I logged on to my account, and man I was just amazed of the data that I have used on my Black Jack. 16MB month to date. I will call first thing in the morning and find the best data plan suited for that kind of use...

You can get the media max 3000 on the blackjack but not the media max 1000. It requires data plan $39.99 or higher. however with the media max 3000 you will not be able to use express mail or get push email at all. Cingular allows this in the place of the PDA connect. Or you can get the PDA max if 3000 text is not enough.

me and u tex have talked about this be4 technically u are right in saying it uses smartphone but as i seen your and your reps aren't properly trained ...... u should be selling the PDA MAX feature on it

Wow, you know ZERO about how we do business.

I will not start this debate over again. I feel one way (and as I stated for those just joining us I confirmed it with my R.A.E. for an allowed solution) and you feel another way.

As far as the 30 days, wise up moron! We have a 180 day chargeback period. We also get subcriber management fees for long term customer satisfaction. You are absolutely ignorant on how we operate so do not dare assume how I run my business. We have the lowest churn and highest satisfaction scores in our region. We are allowed to do things other agents are not due to the skill level of my employees. And yes, you folks at the call center and COR stores are not given the same lattitude.

You lash out with bas...

we went to a training on this and have a print-out of acceptable plans for the blackjack it is the only PDA that can get the rebate and it IS OK BY CINGULAR POLICY to sell the media max plans. It says on the rebate form with "+" next to the blackjack "Requires activation on a $39.99 or higher unlimited data plan OR a $19.99 messaging extreme plan plus a cingular voice plan of $39.99 or higher" Why would cingular put this on the rebate form if they did not want us to sell these plans on the blackjack?
