Situation: phone(v600) placed on a table in a room, 2-3 bars and good connection. I call the cell number from a home telephone number, the cell phone doesn't ring and on the land line phone I shortly arrive at the mailbox. Call after a couple of minutes, the phone call goes through perfectly.

How often does this happen?
Out of ten attempts, how many do not ring?
If you travel 5-10 miles do you still have this problem?

It happened two days ago (I was showing my father how to use my new phone). And just for fun I tried again today. First call didn't go through next two calls went through however. I was unable to test it in other areas outside my room (I have only 1 phone).

Travel, see if the problems occurs outside your home or a building. (We can't guarantee service in buildings)..and if it occurs more frequent than three times in the past couple of days....other than than seems like a service issue...(How long have you had the phone)

With that said, there is always a chance that it could be a service issue, but this scenario usually dictates that it is a problem with the phone and not the service. On a personal note, I have received numerous complaints about this phone from customers for just this issue. So take that with a grain of salt.

Are you aware of any software updates that are available for this phone? I doubt that something is wrong with it's hardware so it would be pointless to trade it for some other one with the same problem.

None that I have heard of. In fact, I have heard that the V600 is being discontinued by Cingular, and eventually AWS. But, that could be just rumors.

You could always contact Motorola directly and find out.

Sounds to me the guy shouldn't have been dealing with legal issues on a cell phone.
