Hello all... I could use alittle advice before signing a new contract with att...I live in NW Louisiana, close to the arkansas and texas borders and am considering signing up for at&t's gsm america national plan. My question to you is how "good" is gsm service. I realize that's a "subjective" question. But i don't know anyone else in my area using gsm and was wondering how the call coverage and audio quality were... also, should I go with a phone that reads only gsm or should I go with a phone that reads gsm/tdma. I appreciate any help you can lend.. thanks.

w/o zip it's a bit difficult to pinpoint coverage. as for general coverage, if you're near shreveport you should be ok. most of the gsm coverage in the northern part of la is by i-49, i-20, & i-55.

you can take a look at the coverage maps online here:

I would make your choice of either TDMA or GSM and live with it, rather than getting a phone that does both. These are called GAIT phones, and there are only a couple models available. None of them have a very good reputation.
