I may have the first AT&T Wireless V600 casualty 👿 I just got my phone yesterday. It worked great last night. But today, when I left my Condo, I couldn't make any calls. The minute I got out the door, the phone went into emergency use only mode. Luckily they I had my old V60 from Verizon, so I called ATT customer care. The lady told me that it hadn't been 24 hours since my activation...so I'd have to wait until after 5pm to see what the problem was. So after five I went for a drive and made a few calls. The first ones were fine...but after that all my calls failed. I got a full signal strength bar...but no gprs packet symbol. I then turned the power off and turned it back on. Still nothing. I drove another block and the all o...

Also bear in mind that AT&T tested the phone and released it with their stamp of approval. That is AT&T for ya always looking out for the customer. 😉

Along with 2 other carriers big guy. 🙄 Its all about the money. People think the more you pay the better quality equipment you get. Get your story right. And as for the company cares....Anyone remember the story of the Sprint PCS phone that exploded on some family, then when they tried to get another one Sprint was charging full price or cancel with ETF. It was all over the tv and in newspapers. Thats quality. " I'm sorry your phone blew up, that's not covered by warranty. If you want to cancel it's 150 plus end of cycle."

Makes me feel a bit better. I bought mine factory unlocked from Plemix.com over a month ago, had the same problems and just assumed the AT&T V600 would have those problems fixed. Oh well.. and as for the reception in the department store, with AT&T Wireless GSM, its hit or miss. I used to use a T-Mobile and can't get as strong signals in some of the same places with my new AT&T V600. I'm mostly in Chicago, but am in the Detroit area this week.

The only thing thats bugging me about your post is that you said "The two cities I've been in today are Novi and Pontiac Michigan. Both are suburbs of Detroit and neither should have any coverage problems." I mean you must have a to high of standard for wireless service. GSM, especially AT&T's, isnt going to cover you everywhere. I understand you werent in a rural area but still. Just because your a big city dont always think your going to have service. I hate hearing that customers get disconnected. What i usually say is give the rep a call back number, other then your cell if available, so they can call you back. A lot of reps wont but a lot will to. I will just because the cust asks nicely 😁

My point about Pontiac and Novi are that they are both covered (or should be covered) under Michigan's local coveage plan. At least that what I was told by the rep who sold me the phone. I also talked to some in store reps to review coverage of the area I'm in, just to make sure that I would have uninterrupted coverage in the areas I was travelling. Seriously, why buy a cellphone if your not going to have good coverage...especially in a major market. I am aware that there are dead areas for every service, but coming from Verizon, I'm not used to the dead areas being right in the middle of large city. Verizon had some dead areas too, but they were in areas that were a bit more rural. Regardless, the rep I called told me she thought it w...

I live in the Metro Detroit area. I don't go to Pontiac or Novi OFTEN, but i've been all over. No issues with GSM using my 6310i, 3590 or 6200. I did have a weak signal when I used the T720, 3650 and an unlocked Sams S105.

The NEC 525 I borrowed sucked everywhere the other phones worked period.

I believe you said you are using the V600. Ever think it might not be the service ;)

And yes, I realize the 3650 is a Nokia and it is listed as marginal signal, but it is true. Dunno why, maybe i had a defective unit, but the 3650 sucked in those areas. Particularly around Novi (Emagine Theatre).

"but they lack the new products to keep me interested".

Personally, my Verizon phone could be a shoe with a speaker built into it and I wouldn't care. I'll take pedestrian phones with excellent service over v600s with AT&T's service any day of the week.
