I want to buy a new phone, but, not sure if I want to migrate to CINGULAR at this time.

I have a NOKIA 6200 from AT&T Wireless and want to buy a camera phone.

If I am buying a phone from E-Bay or from some other vendor, what do I need to look for in terms of FREQUENCY BAND ?? Is it GSM 850 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 ??

If you buy a phone off of e-bay, you will be signing up for a new activation, so you will be getting a second number. Just check the yellow pages for a used digital phone and then call cingular to see if you can use the phone as a replacement digital phone. Dont buy off of e-bay otherwize you are signing up for a new service with a new phone number, so you will be paying for 2 lines of service, if really you only want the one.

People could be selling their disconnected phones too. It should state in the auctions themselves. I believe Americans use 1900 and 850 MHz? Correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're confusing ebay with amazon... Amazon wants you to get new service. Ebay is where virtual stores and individuals sell their phones (usually unlocked) for a price comparable or less than retail.

Hey Johnny,
Okay, this is my SECOND time writing all of this out, so I hope you appreciate what I'm doing for you here! lol

Okay, I'm a rep with Cingular wireless and I service all the former AT&T Wireless accounts. I'm not sure if you have digital AT&T Wireless or GSM AT&T Wireless, but I'm going to tell you what I know, as I am a digital (also known as TDMA) rep.

Honestly, your best bet would be to upgrade to Cingular. You'll be getting alot of good things like no roaming and long distances charges, roll over minutes, * services (so you can check your remaining minutes at any time from your phone!) and unlimited mobile to mobile (so you can call ANY AT&T Wireless or Cingular Wireless customer in the ENTIRE United States). If you upg...
