👿 I'm tired of the people that call in already in a bad mood. I am the absolute nicest rep and they still feel as if people owe them something or inconvienced for having to call. I wish other people could see how much we take for granted here. I'm tired of arrogant, short tempered people that try to bully you! 😡

I just got off the phone with a customer who yelled the entire 30 minutes I was on the phone with him. Yeah, I can see that you're frustrated, but please, for goodness sakes, it's easier to help you when you aren't incoherently yelling at me.

I wonder if people learned how to relax and realize that things aren't really as important, if that would solve things. Are we too uptight as a society? Are we just lazy?

I think that we are
waaaayyy too uptight as a society. I personally make a point of being relaxed and taking things in stride. getting worked up over most things is just counter productive most of the time.

"time is money" taking 5 minutes out of their day to call us about an issue that is most likely their fault while they're shoving potato chips down their throat vegeating on their lard ass watching television is wasting their valuable time, after all, they PAID GOOD MONEY to enjoy those No-name brand potato chips. 🙄
...
OMG that annoys me! I always make a comment like. "I'm sorry, I didn't make you out, b/c you were eating"...They stop right away! 😉

We're uptight and lazy. Why else do you think we are dropping dead of heart disease and strokes in this country?

American consumers have also been lead to believe that the customer is always right, no matter what.
"The customer is always right" concept may have worked fine in a time when people were more honest and more reasonable and less apt to manipulate the "facts" to suit their own purposes. A time when people were less 'cheap' and were willing to actually pay for niceties. Nowadays, customers will believe that they are right, no matter if what they are arguing is correct or not. They want the highest quality and best service for prices that could not possibly even buy half the qu...

It is. There really needs to be a movement to re-educate the American consumer altogether. American's will never be a grateful culture in my opinion... May have to do with the fact it is the only culture in the world that places no emphasis on honor.

I'm tired of Americans too.

I'm into equal rights...so honestly I hate everyone equally.

Well here's the problem with that: America is not full of "Americans." The country has become the refugee capitol of the world and those people believe as soon as they come into America they're entitled to the exact same treatment and priviledges as those who have worked hard to make this country what it is. Evey customer I speak to is not American and a good percentage of the escalating customers I speak with don't even refer to American English as their first language.

That is horrible... What are you a biggot?
Please, First of all, Legal Immigrants are entitled to the same benefits and rights... And your "hard working" americans relied on immigrants to make this country what it is... No the problem is not immigrants. Though some.
I won't deny that there are immigrants that act like americans but the majority is American, Native raised.
To enlighten you, most immigrants will accept the treatment companies offer because they don't understand and know the ways of american companies... In other words? They're easier to work with.
...
Well since you missed that one completely let me explain it. My statement was in response to the fact that this thread has linked angry and abusive customers to "American society" and because Americans are "uptight and lazy." What I was pointing out is that not all the customers I speak to are "American" and so "American society" is not the problem.
By the way, thanks Buddha for the enlightenment. However, I deal with nothing but irate customers and the vast majority of the screamers and yellers are not Americans. Now, I would love to hear how screaming customers are "easier to deal with."

Speaking of dealing w/ irate cusomers... I take escalation calls all day. I know a thing or two about being screamed at... all day.
And if american society is not the problem... Why do survey's and consumer reports all think like the American Society they represent..> Which ironically enough matches well statistically with the average American consumer...
I'm curious what department you're in... Because on the large scale, the majority of calls that come into our center are Native raised Americans.
Who haggles prices in other nations? Who's always 'looking for the better deal'? Who always wants credit for nothing?
Here's a hint... The word 'Free' is the most common marketing scheme... In the United States of America... I doubt Ma...

American consumers have given a new meaning to the term "free market economy". 🙄
My attitude is that nothing is free. Somebody always pays.

Hmmm, why in the world would AMERICAN surveys match the average AMERICAN? I'm with the warranty res desk so I'm quite sure I know how screaming customers are. I've never said every angry customer I deal with was an immigrant, I said a vast majority. Not every escalation I take ends up with a yelling or screaming customer, however. Naturally the majority of the calls that come into your center are native raised Americans because, hint hint, YOU'RE DEALING WITH AN AMERICAN COMPANY. Would you expect more Egyptians in Italy than Italians? Come on now, and please don't try to tell me Americans are the only people that haggle prices. It's human nature, which was the intent of my original statement, that native born Americans are not ...

I'm just saying, what makes you an American...?? Almost all Americans ancestors are from elsewhere... Whether it be England, Egypt, Russia, France, Poland..
and yes you are right.. people from everywhere can be unreasonable!!

I believe being a native born American makes you American. When my ancestors came from their respective countries, they weren't Americans, they were immigrants.
...
Okay, I think people just took your comment to be a little bit racist though. Refugee capital.... Anyway, all I was trying to say is you dont know whether or not a person was born in the USA over the phone, many people have accents. I was not trying to deny that other people are unreasonable, because lots of people are unreasonable!

I'm an equal opportunity hater, there are too many other reasons not to like someone other than skin tone or birth country.

Let's agree to disagree... The majority of your calls are immigrants and the majority of my calls are Native born Americans.

Well I won't agree to the last latter section of the statement, but I will agree that my opinion differs from yours. 😁 At least it's more interesting than analyzing the churn and sub growth of Verizon and Cingular in the 1st quarter. 🤣

Really? The vast majority of my screamers were born and raised in the good ol' US of A.

how do you know if people were or were not born in the USA. There are people who may have moved to the US and have kids or grandchildren that may appear to you or sound to you like they are immigrants.
Who cares where they are from, they are most likely American now...

Many of them tell me. "I was born right here in (insert state) in (insert year) and I'm not stupid. I've been an AT&T customer for (insert number of years). I don't complain and I never ask for anything. I've never asked for a credit on my account. I deserve a free phone. I am the customer and the customer is always right. Yes, actually. However, the initial purpose of the post was not to bash immigrants, it was solely in defense of Americans, the root of all evil apparently. The original post would suggest that only Americans call and request things they don't deserve or believe they can do no wrong. I was simply pointing out that we deal with people other than native born Americans with the same mindset and since we don't take calls from other countries, immigrants would be the only other grouping of people we associate with that are not native born Americans. So when a statement is made about Americans, or any other collection of individuals, I'm proposing that statement only apply to that particular group.

personally as a Canadian I would consider an immigrant to my country a Canadian as well, after they passed the citizenship exam and all that jazz. However, I think immigrants are quick to take on the North American I want more attitude. It's not so much as who you are its a culture thing.. it grows on you quick.
...
Do you honestly believe that those same people didn't feel like that until they stepped foot on American soil? If they didn't want more, why immigrate?
...
To be honest, I find that people with accents may come across initially as being more gruff or brusque, but once the problewm has been established and explained, they seem pretty cool. I hate to generalize, but if I had to I would say that the customers I am most cautious of are college students or parents of same. I have noticed that students are the people who have the most trouble understanding that broken phones are not replaced for free, that wex or insurance nets you a refurbished device, and that yes *every time* you 'look' at things online, you are downloading the information to your phone. Don't even get me started on jamster and the like...
