So AT&T has announced that it is entertaining offers for a buy out or a merger, It has confirmed this now, So tell me what is your best guess, Will the people who work at 3rd Party Call Centres be looking for a new job, or will the company that ends up with this in the end still use the call centres, and what's your guess for a timeline on this,

Im guessing that they'd keep the 3rd party CSR's. I mean we have experience in cust care. IMO it'd be to costly to fire all the 3rd party reps and train new direct reps. Probably save them money if they could lower wages but what are customers going to do during that time? Just wait on hold. 45 million customers are going to take waiting for 2 hrs for a rep. And who knows how long for a supervisor then. If anything, IMO again, they will keep the 3rd party reps maybe until they can get reps direct trained then I wouldnt put it past them to fire all the 3rd party reps. But hey hopefully my company can find me a new job. We have more then just AWS as a contract. Timeline, months, months, months.

😁 A company does not more than double their customer base then lay off have the care team, I happen to know they are having a hard time ramping their own Call center in OKC, so I wouldn't be worried if I were you.

just a thought, it costs over 3000$ to train a new csr in spot training, no production 4 it, attrition level of around 10% max usually .by outsourcing they recoup this cost by paying less out in benifits and hourly wages.

found out that our company has a contract with AWS and that there is a clause as with all others that if aws is sold or merged that the new company has to honour the contract with our call centre, since it is like a 10 year contract we are safe for a while yet

i have no idea where that information came from just to let u know that there are no confirmed reports of a buyout or merger just to straten the record up there were rumors about it but thats it i work for at&t and we have heard nothing about it other than the rumors that it might.

the worker bees are usually the last to hear the news.

well i still have no idea where that info is coming from

Where what information came from? That we were entertaining offers? That info came direct from the man himself....John Zeiglis (sp?) in the Jan. 27th earnings announcement.
They have since gone a step further and filed the necessary paperwork with the SEC outlining a formal bidding process.
Cingular has even come right out and stated that they are going to pursue a bid for AWS and their parent companies, SBC Communications and Bell South have also given their blessings.
Now, will anything come out of all this...probably so (IMHO). The $64 question is who will be the buyer(s)??? The industry NEEDS consolidation. Too many boats in the same area of water.
