Existing customer out of contract and Sero

Hi,

My sprint contract has recently run out and I've been looking into alternative carriers and whatnot to make sure I am not overpaying.

SERO seems like it would be the most cost efficient plan for me.

Would I be able to call the retentions department and explain my circumstances to get on the SERO plan? Would I be able to port my number?

Thanks in advance!

Btw, I was intending on using the same phone I have now. It is insured and I like it better than anything else available now.

Nope only avalible to new customers unless certain circumstances are met (which no one knows probably alot of crying and complaining involved), as retentions is not supposed to and alot of them don't have the ability.

That's just it though.

I've read on phone websites, including this one, that they can and will do it. I even read that they opened it up to the public at one point in time because it was doing so well.

I'm not planning on switching carriers this minute, but if I see a better deal than I have now and it's not sprint, I'll be out the door. Afterall, why should I pay more than my neighbor for the same stuff?

SERO is for new customers establishing service with Sprint. Not existing ones.

You- "Hi, I'm out of contract and look at my options. I've been happy with Sprint and would like to stay but I would prefer a SERO plan. Since I am out of contract, I could port to ATT/VZW/TMO and a few days later sign up on the SERO website and port back. I was hoping, however, that I could avoid that hassle and just renew my contract and have my plan changed to a SERO plan."

Retentions- "Well, it seems you have a preferred account, solid payment history, are indeed out of contract. Let me see what I can do."

or - "Hmm... looks like you're always late with your payments, still have a spending limit after several years, are always asking for credits or special offers, etc."

Depends on the rep and your own account. It is pre...

Yeah AC4321 that is pretty much is what I was gonna say.

I haven't missed a payment and haven't asked for special offers or promotions, but I have called in before to address faulty charges. So as a customer for a measely two years, I've done my part.

I did have an issue that I eventually had to handle with corporate, but that was due to the representatives (one local in the store and one outsourced) that were assisting me.

If I were to port my number away from Sprint, would I need to stay away for a certain amount of time before I could port back?

the thing is this putting plan against plan (not service vs. service, customer care vs. customer care, phone vs. phone, just the plans)

You aren't going to find another NATIONWIDE provider with a better plan set... if you're looking to be cheap stay with what you got and just go month to month.

don't try and rip off the company you like sir...

I'm not and if anything it is the other way around.

I do not understand why I should be paying more for less services.

No one is ripping you off sir. the SERO plan is an employee refferal plan. SERO stands for Sprint Employee Refferal Offer it is not intended for the general public. It is for Employees to offer to friends and family not for every Joe Schmucketelli who decides they are paying too much for there wireless service, thats why you need a Sprint Employee E-mail address to access the plan. If it were offered to the general public it would be offered in store and on the main Sprint website. Your the kind of customer nobody wants the kind that wants something for nothing.

I swear, I hear the faint echoes of Ray Carrol in your response.

Allow me to repost one of my responses to a similar assertion.

Are you serious?

The SERO plan has been exploited by both consumers and representatives from the beginning of its inception.

Sprint, aware of this exploitation, chose to respond to this by extending it's length.

Hell, Sprint even released emails addresses that were not limited by the plans original terms, like savings@sprint.com.

They obviously don't care considering this was happening, and they still chose to extend the program even longer then originally planned.

Even more insulting to consumers in this case, is a plan group with more features, for considerably less.

I have no Idea who Ray Carroll is but I explained what the creation of this plan is for and you yourself said it was being exploited. The fact remains it was still for Sprint Employees to refer thier friends and family to not for the general public hence the discontinued validity of savings@sprint.com. I have no doubt in my mind this person will be able to get hte SERO plan since Sprint is dieing to keep customers but it doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't.

How is it two people in the same area can have a difference of over 40% in price for the same plan and features? Simple, those who pay more, are paying the difference of these customers so Sprint can entice them into contracts.

Your the kind of customer nobody wants the kind that wants something for nothing.

😳

Aren't you describing the people on the plan to begin with as well?

Aren't they getting something for nothing where normal customers end up picking up the slack one way or another?

Only if they were not referred by a Sprint Employee.

So what about those who were referred and still get something for nothing?

They are just taking what is offered to them are abusing a program that was designed as a perk for sprint employees.
