VANITY NUMBERS
I want to get 434-XXX-5674
RMS doesn't let me do vanity as far as I know.
please tell me you are serious.
For compliance with FCC regulations, Sprint does not allow manual assignment of MDNs; including the offering of vanity MDNs.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has regulations that govern the management of MDNs and they have imposed certain number management requirements upon all telecommunications providers.
Failure to follow these procedures could impact Sprint's ability to obtain numbers on a timely basis in growth areas.
Manually searching for an MDN may cause Sprint to become non-compliant with the Federal regulation.
Every other carrier in town does it.
Cingular
Alltel
Ntelos
SunCom
US Smellular
do you have any idea how much time would be wasted if we dabbled in vanity #'s?
its a phone#. take what you get and deal with it.

#2- heres an example conversation:
CUSTOMER: i want my phone# to be 504-BAD-A$$$.
REP: im sorry, that # is already taken.
CUSTOMER: then i want it to be 504-BAD-MOFO
REP: that # is part of a block of #'s that was already prepurchased by a different carrier.
CUSTOMER: then iwant my phone# to be 504-TOO-COOL.
REP: also, taken......
...sounds like a blast. woo.
#3- those examples are all landline 800-#'s. this is totally possible. happens all the time. i dont believe anyone ever denied that this was possible. however, theres a large difference in the way the FCC views a landline, compared to the way they view a mobile phone.
