I know this might be a stupid question to some of you, but what exactly is Churn?
Thanks

Probably they are right...
But take it from someone who has worked at sprint...
Churn and Value are 2 things that we take in consideration before giving a credit, c-sat rebate, service credit, or so...
Churn its kind of the possibility for you to leave... Doesn't matter if it's for another company, or just cancel... It's measured by the amount of times that you have had to call us over a problem... The number of adjustments made for our mistakes... Stuff like that...
Value depends on how much do you pay a month and if you pay it on time...
Even if yo have $400dlls bills but you don pay them on time, a customer with a $100dlls bill paid on time has a much higher value... Or a customer that askes every month for unjustified adjustments ev...

Basically, it's pay your bill on time, be nice to the reps and don't ever ask for an adjustment unless it's justified. Hitting the dropped call credit every month until you max out and then complaining all the time while never paying in full will get you nowhere when it's time to negotiate a new phone/contract.

If you have a good track history with the company, you'll get a good deal. It's practical business sense and economics.

Churn is pretty much what happens when you purchase Nextel & Nextel Partners, Inc... The same would've happened if T-Mo bought them... 😁

Nint gained -306,000 subscribers in the Q4 2006... Where do you think they went, sister? That's CHURN in a nutshell...

Nextel's churn was the lowest in the industry, before the merger. I think it's more of a perception by the consumer issue. My service is still just as good and I'm paying less and getting more for my money.

i know what you mean on merger misconceptions. literally, within days of the announced merger back in 2004, i was getting calls from customers with complaints such as:

-since the merger, ive started dropping almost all of my calls.
-Sprint needs to stop tearing down thier towers, just to replace them with stupid Nextel towers.
-the service has really started sucking since you all started welding your towers together...

...and so forth and so on. the claims just got worse and worse as time went on.

of course, the humor is (for those that may not know/understand) that Sprint uses a CDMA network, and Nextel uses iDEN, so the claims these people were making were completely backless, since the networks were, are, and will remain, seper...

...priceless...

You know, 'screw the consumer'. It's all about the stockholders. I dunno', I said it before, Sprint spins-off landline to Embarq and the stock does great. Nint hovers around $17 or $18 a share. Embarq, $55....

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but Sprint (CDMA side) does have a powerful digital network. It was built that way on purpose. However, the whole marketing thing is where it kind of drops off. My God, you put BILLIONS into creating a superior network that you can actually boast about, compare s better against other carriers, etc, etc, and then you buy Nextel, then screw up everything.

Geez, instead of the most powerful network campaigns, they might as well have the guy (the one from Office Space) shoot mice out of a cannon against a brick wall like that old tech firm used to do in their banned commercials...

Actually, Nextel had the lowest churn rate of EVERYONE prior to the merger. The reason they aren't doing well now is because product confusion and the future of Nextel for one, and the Sprint name didn't boost Nextel's image at all.

In fairness, I believe Sprint's bad rep is a perception issue. Verizon has been more successful in marketing the idea that they are more reliable than everyone else. What's funny about that is their native network is the SMALLEST by far of all the other four carriers.

If you think about it, you're going to roam a lot more on Verizon than on anyone else's network, so you are at the mercy of the call quality and handling of other networks a greater amount of time than on say, Sprint. So, in short, how can the...

I'm getting a powersource phone delivered first of the week. I'm at least going to try it out before making any more judgments. I really wish that it had included 800 mhz CDMA roaming, but my combined coverage locally will improve significantly.

In my extended area, I will pick up Blairsville, Ga., Blue Ridge, Ga., Elijay, Ga., plus ironically, the few neighborhoods and surrounding areas in my home market not covered by Nextel.

Since you are a rep, do you know if a software upgrade can be performed on a PCS only phone that enables it to read lower frequencies, such as 800 mhz? I know on older Nextel phones, an upgrade for 900 mhz IDEN can be performed. These frequencies on the Nextel phones are pretty close, though (800 & 900).
