Can someone perform an exorcism?!
Hey everyone! I feel I need help. I've been a happy Sprint customer for about 7 yrs now. Like many other people's posts I've read...Sprint's phone lineup has been a rather sore topic for me for about the last year or so. Although they've made some recent improvements...it's just not what it used to be. I feel there was a time when the Sprint phone selection was the envy of the other carriers & their customers. However, it seems things have changed. I'm certain there are many who will leap to defend their beloved Sprint but, please understand...I'm not a Sprint hater. I'm simply a long time customer who has grown dissatisfied. I'm still a big fan of their plan pricing, their coverage is decent, and all they ...

Go with Cingular you won't regret it. Sprint is losing ground, sadly. âšī¸

Hey, thanx for your reply. Would you mind giving me some pros & cons of Cingy? Also, if you wouldn't mind telling me where you use your cell most, and whether you've ever been a Sprint customer...that would be helpful too. I appreciate it. đ

curious.. any particular reason why you are not considering Verizon Wireless or T-Mo? is it their selection?

Yes, I'm not a big fan of VZW. Several years ago, I had a negative experience with VZW - which is why I chose Sprint. My girlfriend has VZW, and there are very few noticeable differences in coverage between VZW & Sprint. Although, I think their selection is getting better, I think they're shooting themselves in the foot with their "single flavored UI", overpriced plans with mediocre services. Some may disagree with me on this...but, frankly...I am still a bit biased due to my initial negative experience with them.
As for T-Mo...when I moved from N. Cali to S. Cali last Spring, I looked into T-Mo. I wasn't real impressed with their selection and after asking around, it appeared that their coverage wasn't as good as VZW, Cingular, or Sprint. ...

Ive used both recently, but around chicago. Aside from sprints data, I did like cingular a little more. The phones are a lot better, with more unlocked features. For example, their krzr has a better camera and supports stereo bluetooth for cingular. That, and you can easily get an unlocked phone for a good price with cingular, but with sprint, you have to buy their phones.

He can't give you that information because I'm sure he's never been a Sprint customer and knows nothing about the services or quality of services they provide.
Sprint is just getting started.

Would you mind elaborating on how & why you feel "Sprint is just getting started"? My hope is that someone has more info on this subject than I do and can enlighten me. I'm hoping someone can forecast "sunny skies" for the Sprint customer in some way! đ

I work for a third party dealer and I sell Cingular and sprint/nextel. I have the sprint phone, my wife has the cingular phone. The only reason I choose to have the sprint phone is because of the high-speed internet, Sirius radio...and thats it. If I had to pay for all of my wireless services, I would stay with cingular. Not only do they have the most cutting edge phones, but you have access to more. The Gsm phones offered in europe and asia make our top phones look like garbage. You can use their services with any of the best phones. I cant wait for their 3g network to get bigger.

Are you saying that Cingular doesn't prevent you from buying an unlocked overseas phone & using it in the US? If so, are there any drawbacks or pitfalls with choosing to do that? Thanks for your reply & info! đ

Cingular is supposed to be one of the best in Northern Cali while Verizon rules Southern Cali.

I've only been a Sprint customer for a few weeks now but I just love their service and phones. I had the Fusic for a minute then bought a new Sanyo 7500 off ebay which I love. The phone selection is lacking a tad but like you said Sprint has always put out great phones and I'm sure we are just going through a small drought.
What I'm looking forward to is Qchat in 08 this will bring allot of good durable phones Sprints way, and also in 07 they will be releasing many new REV A phones as well. In Seattle where I live REV A is already in the works. I would hang in there.
I have verizon too and they do suck, no powervision and standardized UI..I'm going to port those lines to Sprint-once I'm out of contract that is.
Good luck

Well, I moved from SoCal a few years ago and Cingular was not that bad but they were not great either. Sprint was horrible (but roaming does help). I would say, try Cingular out for 30 days and see how it works for you. When I was in Cali, I switched from Sprint to Cingular and there was a very noticeable improvement in service. Just my experience.
