I use to have Sprint about 5 years ago and traveled around the country for work at that time. The service was great *IF* you were in or very near a major city, freeway or airport. Anywhere else I couldn't get a signal at all...It's been 5 years, I'm hoping this has changed?
I now have Verizon and pretty much stick to Oregon only, but I am all over the place in Oregon and I have to be able to get a signal. Currently with Verizon I don't really have problems, but I'm paying about $75/month more than I need to be. I need just under 2000 minutes a month and unlimited data, with Verizon the closest plan is 4000 minutes a month with unlimited data and it's $189/month...Sprint has a 2000 minute a month plan with unlimited data for $115/month hen...

Where in Oregon? PDX area? East? Coast? South?

Sprint has a great coverage map now. And what I like abput it better then verizon is you can tell thier coverage area and their roaming area. You get free roaming now unlike 5 yrs ago. So if you want voice every were you go then you will. Go and put in your address it will tell you what signal you should expect their.

Or you could try USCC, who combines Sprint and Verizon maps on the Nationwide plan. That way there would be very few holes in your coverage.

🙄 Sprint combines Sprint and Verizon maps... why go with a no-name?
...
USCC is the second largest regional carriers, with tough to beat roaming agreements and an almost completely open PRL list. They have decent plans, Incoming calls, N/W @ 7pm. They have been ranked by the FCC as the number one carrier, as far as customer service and network parity. So no name I believe not.

never heard of uscc...not even in the carriers list here on phonescoop that I could see, but thanks I guess
...
US Cellular. Try to look again.

and sdgmcdon just proved my point... 😎
...
USCC is not a no name, and why go with a company that is known for their screw ups, for heaven's sake. Why throw mud!

I can't say I've EVER met a single person who actually has USCC, they are not a Tier 1 carrier. What happens when you are on the road and you need some kind of service... hunt down a USCC store. Good luck. I know that no matter where I am I can easily find a Sprint store if I have a problem or need service on my phone. I'm from Boston and now live in the NW, so either coast, I'm covered with support. 😎 😎

USCC is not in the portland marketplace. The closest store I have been to of that company is about 75 miles north of portland. USCC has spoty coverage throughout the oregon market. Some of my family has them and they had a hard time getting service outside of portland. I would say go to sprint and make the change from verizon. If people have issues with customer service you should go to a store and talk to someone.
