RANT: why do I have to renew my contract

jcamcardo

Sep 26, 2006, 1:29 PM
If I just want to add 7pm night/weekends? Especially if I still have to pay for it. That doesnt make any sense to me, if I am going to renew my contract for it I should be getting it for free. Another gripe that I have is that last october I bought a new phone at full retail price (my contract wasnt up till april 2006) and when I wanted to get a new phone in august at a 'discount' they told me I wasnt eligable because I got a new phone in october....WTF? I bought the phone at retail price and didnt get a discount and I am currently out of contract so why should I be able to get a discount? They were telling me I could get $50 off....how ass backwards is that. I didnt want to change my whole plan b/c I get a discount, but the $5 or whatever ...

I am in the same position, my wife's phone quit a year ago in the second year of my contract. I bought phone just to get her by paying full retail for it. I am currently out of contract and am looking to replace both of my phones, I have been told that I can get the 150 discount on my phone but my wife's phone is only able to receive the 75 discount. Sprint reps have all said to bad nothing they can do for me. I have been paying for the 7 pm night/weekends also and was told I had to sign up for a new contract to get them free. Another RANT, I received a coupon from Sprint for 150 off of any phone. Thought I would use it for my wife's phone, found out its only for my phone, just a note that I can get the 150 off, not really a coupon. Terrible...

There policies make no sense! They dont even want to give me the 7pm nights and weekends for free. They want me to pay and sign a 2 year contract.

You coul have n&w at 7pm for free if you´re switching to a fair & flex... If it´s another plan that svc it´s not included... As for why do you have to renew the contract it´s because you´re switching your plan we have a contract so we will respect the offers that we gave u... Even if the price changes we will respect whatever we agreed on... So that´s why you have to renew it... 😁

That coupon you received was for your phone not you wifes. But thats ok ive seen it and can see how you can get confused( No sarcasm intended). It wasnt a coupon it was just a reminder that your do for your 150 instant rebate that you get if you sign another 2 year agreement. As far as the 7pm nights the reason they made it free is so that people will sign another 2 year agreement so they wont have to pay for it every month. Acually its a very good sales tactic, people will do anything to save 5 bucks a month!

I called them yesterday to add it and they told me it was $5/month plus a 2 year contract...they didnt even give me the option of free....I even mentioned that to her. I told her if I am going to sign a 2 year I need to get it for free. Oh well I guess I will just look elsewhere!

You have to change your plan to a new plan that includes 7pm. Why should you get it for free? Why should anyone get anything for free? Do you think you are doing us a favor by renewing your agreement that you can get out of whenever you want w/out paying? Sure we will charge you a fee to cancel but what is there to make you pay it? At least this way we will get $5 more per month until you find something else you don't like and threaten to leave again.

P.S. Explain to me how signing a 2yr contract w/ Sprint now to get 7 pm is somehow worse than switching companies and signing a 2yr contract w/ them?

ok smart *ss I wasnt even asking for it for free. I was willing to pay the $5 dollars/month, but not if I have to sign a 2 year contract. What other carrier makes you sign a 2 year contract and still pay for a freakin ADD ON feature? No one, but SPRINT. I should be getting for free if I have to sign 2 years for THAT. At least if I signed a 2 year contract with someone else, I would be getting the phone I want--at a discount--and everything I have currently for about the same price. I am out of contract with sprint and the only reason why I am still a sprint customer is out of convenience and the fact that a bunch of new phones are coming out at the start of the new quarter. I hope you dont work for sprint because if I ever came across someon...

man, then I'm glad I haven't come accross you yet cause you sound like a big tough guy. It's an upgrade feature, not an add on. Vision is an add on, texting is an add on. 7 pm is an upgrade. Pretty much every carrier is going to make you sign a 2 yr to upgrade.

You are right. Just change your plan. You'll probably be happier in the long run. And as far as getting your discount; thats why we have a retentions department. I would call customer service and tell them you want to cancel. I had a similar situation with a customer last week and I had the customer call care and they took careof them. If you go to a store and the rep you work with isn't a douche they can do the discount in the store. So you don't have to have it sent to you.

As far as canceling. I have worked for T-Mobile and Sprint and I've had Cingular. They all work the same. If you change your plan you extend a contract. Now upgrading is different. I'm not sure about Cingular but at T-mobile if a customer bought the phone outright t...

Your right. You shouldn't have to sign a new contract just to add a service. If you add a calling feature, 7pm for example, and keep your current plan, how is that a upgrade? A upgrade is changing plans to get additional features/services. I would ask to talk to retentions and make your case. As a employee, I'm ashamed that another person acting as an employee would make such comments. Most CSR's will listen to your issue and try to help but I too have run into some that are complete wrong for the job of customer service. I would try again as I have found not all CSR's are not as well informed as others. Retentions is empowered to do more for you then a regular CSR.

The 7pm nights is free w/ the new plans, if you have an old plan you have to pay for it. It is a special and that is why you have to renew your contract to get it, whether it's free or included. Just like a discount on your phone, we give you something, you give us something. The reason your upgrade date got changed is because your ESN (phone sku) changed, the way the system does upgrades is to have the same ESN active for 22 consecutive months unless it is replaced by a reconditioned phone (insurance or warranty replacement). You can call cust care and explain the situation to them and there is a way they can still allow you to get the $150 off, but it can only be done by cust care. Store reps are correct when they tell you they cannot...

you see thats where your logic is flawed. I understand sprint wants something in return, but if your giving me something for free or at a discounted price then I completely understand the 2 year contract. But if I have to pay $$$ and sign a 2 year...I dont think so. I am OUT of contract and I cant even get a discount on a freakin phone because I bought one at full retail price almost 1 year ago. I cant even PAY $$$ to get 7 pm nights and weekends w/o signing a 2 year contract--you tell me that isnt crooked?

it isn't crooked, we are giving you something extra.....since 7pm is not included in your plan it is extra....whether it costs money or not it is extra. It is a discounted price, you get 2 hours of free minutes for $5. Nobody gets it for free, so why should you? The new plans are $5 higher that include them so the new cust's are paying the same price. Why do you think you are owed something? YOU ARE NOT OWED ANYTHING. I have owned a Ford car for a few years now and guess what- They aren't going to give me a discounted rate on a new one. Am I crying on some Ford forum about it? No. It is going to be the same anywhere you go so just get used to it.

"but if your giving me something for FREE or at a discounted price then I completely understand the 2 year contract. But if I have to pay $$$ and sign a 2 year...I dont think so."

I'm sorry, does that not mean you want it for free if you have to sign a new contract? Maybe since I'm a dummy, I can't understand it.

OK!! Relax... If you just want to add the n&w at 7pm... You can do it without renewing the contract... You are required to have a 2yr contract... Which means that if you have a 1yr contract you will have to renew it... But if you already have a 2yr contract you can add it...

Here's the deal. When you change rate plans, any contract you have in effect for that particular line becomes null and void as you'll sign a new 2 year contract from that point. All the new Sprint Fair & Flexible rate plans $39.99 and higher now have Unlimited Sprint Mobile to Mobile for FREE. If I'm correct, NO North American wireless carrier offers Nights & Weekends for 7 pm for FREE or for $10.00 more to start the hours as 6 pm.
As far as the full pricing of a handset is concerned, your eligibility last October to upgrade your handset last to a new one at the discounted pricing was reset because the discount was based upon having an ESN on that particular wireless # for 24 consecutive months. The Sprint Handset Upgrade Program/HUP recen...

Too bad I did not talk with you, I just called and asked about my wife's phone and was told again that it I would only be able to get 75 for it. Oh well I like the network and most of the time the service, just wish everyone would get things straight. I was told that whenever you change phones you reset your eligibility for the discount. No execeptions, they said it was on the web site, but I can not find out where.

Sprint likes to nickle and dime for that freakin 7p.m. feature there is ways of getting it without renewing your agreement, trust me i have seen it done. call to cancel your service, ask for your ced, and account number from there you will get transfered to the retation department who will ask you why are you leaving tell them the reason and BAMMMMM there you go. as far as the upgrade same thing, sprints policy's on upgrades suck even if you pay full retail you can't get a new phone when you qualify.

I remember reading that 7pm and 6pm can be added without changing the contract. Catch is it is NOT the leading offer. Leading offer is rate plan change to the new plan with $0 7pm and contract renewal. Any plan that does not have it like free incoming or even the old free&queer can add 7pm with no contract for $5 reactively. I swear that was changed like august, someone confirm that?

Yeah, I swear it said in KMS that we no longer required the contract for N/W attachables a little while back. For some reason, the system still tries to make you put one on. Luckily, I have override codes, so I do it in P2K, override the contract requirement, and never even mention the contract. I care more about making my customers happy than forcing them to renew thier contract unecessarily!

you do not have to have a contract. there are several companies out there that do not require you to have a contract. you can use bost, virgen mobile, sti mobile, helo, track phone, net 10. many many companies.

and don't give me any crap about how they are more expensive or do not offer 6pm nights and weekends. each company is different there are plent out there. if you don't like one simply exersize your right as a consumer, leave. no one held a gun to your head and made you sign a 2 year deal.

why are you complaining about signing a contract any ways? you planing on leaveing? then just leave now. if they are so horrible pay your etf and go where you do not have to have one!
