Just a thought

I was just wondering if anyone thought that in a few years Sprint will overtake any of the big two VZW or Cingy in total customers. With the addition of new plans and The purchase or merger with nextel do they even stand a chance?

Maybe eventually, but not anytime soon, in my opinion. The general public isn't smart enought to realize why Sprint better than the other carriers. They have their preconceived notions and stuff they have heard from their friends that they go by.

Thank you. I hope that people can see that Sprint is actually pretty good. They have good phones and maybe they will be the biggest down the line.

isnt this one of those best-with-an-asterisk things? I think every company is just a good or bad as the others, but it's more of _where one may work that another may not.

No. I was just wondering if Sprint will ever pass Verizon or Cingular. I think they are just as Good as Verizon but people have given Sprint a bad name for a long time and the general public tends to look down on Sprint.

Just my opinion.

Hmmm, how many customers does each company have?

Sprint/Nextel= about 44 Million
Verizon= about 46 Million
Cingular= about 48 Million

They are right about there. I am guessing that it will not take long.

Mmmmmmmmmm... I love coffe.

One of Sprints greatest assets is also it biggest downfall. They use a 1900MhZ PCS band. While this allows clearer calls and faster data transfers it also takes twice as many towers to cover the area of an 800MhZ system. Towers cost money, a lot of money when you are trying to put up twice as many as your competition to cover the same area. That is why Sprint suffers problems with in building coverage in some areas where Verizon may not have those issues in the same area.

Also, Sprint has the lowest credit standards in the industry which caused them to get a reputation of a "ghetto" company a few years back. If you have a $750 deposit with Cingular, a $500 with Nextel, a $500 with Verizon or a $125 with Sprint and you need a phone, wha...

Chicago used to be one of Sprint's worst markets. But in the past few years they've dropped so much money into that city that it got some kind of award for being the best in the city.

yes, i do..

their assets, mgmt and future products/solutions will probably be taking them close to the number 2 spot. sprint/nextel continues to do well over a qt over qt basis, better then cingular but less then vzw.. i think they will def. overtake number 2 but number 1, that verizon will over take in 2006, will be very difficult.

(rallykid has a nice opinion on the matter. very well thought out also.)

spectrum and towers are amazing.

800, 900, 1.9ghz and 2.5ghz. 45k+ towers and thousands of towers built each year added to that total.

i think they will be a huge force when the dual mode phones come out in 2006. REV A will be nice too and same with flarion or wimax or whatever 4g solution they want to deploy. in addition t...
