EV-DO and ReadyLink

Has anyone tried the ReadyLink between two Sanyo 9000s? The speed, for a ip-based PTT solution, is incredible. The connect was only marginally slower than Nextel and once connected, was almost instantaneous.

Definitely beats Cingular's initial 7 seconds initial connect! 🤣 (And yes, I tried it)

ReadyLink is pushed on the 1X network - not EVDO.

That's becuase EV-DO rev 0 only supports 1xRTT uplinks; this is addressed in Rev1, supposedly....

But 1xRTT is still faster than EDGE, and if the phone CPU is fast enough to support data at EV-D0 rates, it should be pretty quick at processing and reacting to 1xRTT data.

was he referring to qchat? was he saying, in a cryptic way, that my 8200, and everybody else's RL phones, as well as everybody's iden phones, will be updated OTA sometime next year, to support qchat for PTT, instead of RL or iden?

the reason i'm asking is b/c i had heard people say, earlier this year, that the update will happen first on the sprint and nextel servers, to the effect that the servers will be upgraded, to be able to transfer an incoming RL signal o...

Excellent. Makes me want the 9000 even more, and means I might actually use Readylink. 😉
