It's not known for its reception. It also doesn't have an outside display. Go with the Sanyo 2300 if your not looking to spend a lot and don't care about camera. Most people I see who buy the 660 wish they had a different phone 6 months later and can't upgrade for quite awhile. If you really like it, then get it, it's not terrible, it's just that I think there are better phones, but everybody has their own preferences.

I agree with lownote, avoid this phone. The reception on it is terrible and it is discontinued now anyway, so any stores that have it are just getting rid of leftovers. Go with the 2300 if you have to get a free phone. Better yet pay some money and get the phone you really want. You will be happier in the long run.

the a660 is junk. crap. waste of good plastic. ringtones sound like crap & downloaded ones soundeven worse. reception sucks too. spend the extra 20.00 and get the sanyo 2300. best bang for the buck.

i haven't had a chance to REALLY check out the 2300, but i used to own a 660, and until it short-circuited in the rain, it was a great phone...voice-dialing, real-music ringtones, great downloadable games, available gamepad, and great reception.

also, my dad currently has one, and he loves it, too...ringer id, picture id (although internal, but nonetheless, it's still there to use), and he's never complained about the reception, either...

no offense to you, though, darth, but you said that ringtones sound like crap - i would say that that issue may have been caused by the speaker on your unit being defective...you also said that downloaded ones sound even worse - i would venture to say that that issue (while also possibly being affecte...

Compared to my Sanyo MM7400, the a660 ringtones sound muffled......also, if they "arent of the highest quality", why would Sprint sell them???? Did I fail to mention I work for Sprint? Look, the 660 is a lowline piece of junk......its BEST attribute is you can call someone on it......Don't talk too long, though, or the keypad may get rather warm on your cheek. Sanyo makes a MUCH better phone for about the same $$$

"ringtones sound muffled"
sanyo speakers are better, plus the 7400 is a high-end compared to the 660 being an entry-level - on the 200 the ringtones sound better only because of brands

"aren't of the highest quality"
they are of the highest quality possible ON THE SERVER, but as you download them, connection quality and phone quality come into account

"lowline"
definately...esp. compared to ANY sanyo

"piece of junk"
subjective comparison...in an open forum like this one should be more objective in their comparisons/comments

"keypad warm on your cheek"
i never experienced that, but every one else that i've ever talked to who used this phone OR the 620/vga1000 says that...

"sanyo makes a much better phone"
somewhat subject...
