shut off again?

👿

I have had sprint for almost 2 years now and never paid a bill late. However, sprint has no problem shutting your phone off for any reason. One time they credited my account temp. so that the phone would get shut off by a computer error that they were having, but it was only a 10 day credit and after 10 days... you guessed it, they shut it off. But by far my favorite is when you call their customer service. "No I don't know what's going on, I don't see anything, there's nothing I can do for you. Ummm (long pause) you could pay $75 and get it turned back on" never mind that 3 days prior I had payed my bill for the month and had not gone over my min....
I see it everyday too. I work for a retailer that offers Sprint and everyday p...

Oh my god! 😲 I've never heard of a spending limit! can you please be so kind to share your wealth of information with me? I am so eager to learn from you...listen, I don't have credit, I will admit that, but that is in no way an excuse for sprint to shut off a phone and then not know why. None of their people ever know why, you call them, and they say "well I can't see anything, maybe you should pay some more money" so yes, I don't have credit, but is it my fault that sprint has a terrible system? No.

ps. if you're going to try to be insulting, at least put some thought into it. BECAUSE ANYONE CAN JUST TYPE IN ALL CAPS.

YES THAT IS TRUE

Oblivion Child your words ring true - but I'm just a caveman who doesn't understand the world's strange and complicated ways - long ago I slipped into a crevasse and froze - later scientists unthawed and revived me. Now I surf on this thing you people call the spidernet with this fancy box of light - it scares and amuses me at the same time.

Anyhow - yeah it sucks when action is taken and the justification for taking that action in not easily determined.

Also - as for your credit - not sure what has happened - but you might wanna look up info on fixing it yourself. It's not too terribly difficult and you can do it yourself.

One example - you can write a letter challenging issues on your credit - by law - the ag...

I feel spending limits are good. I would rather my phone get turned off because my bill somehow (however it happened, Sprint mistake, someone using your phone w/out you knowing, etc)got to 125.00 so as to alert me something is going on w/ my acct. rather than get a bill in the mail for 400+ and have to deal with that.

The part about fixing your credit won't help in the long run. Example....

Let's say you're trying to get a bad debt with Gap off your report, either you caused the bad debt or it's an error. You send the credit agency the letter, the 30 days pass, and they take it off. During the next quartarly upload of credit stuff, Gap will have your bad debt on there again.

You need to get to the root of the problem to get it removed. Of course, this may be a quick fix just to get a lower deposit or something.

P.S. Do people visit this frequently? I'm a Cingular user, thinking of switching to Sprint, and have noticed a lot of the posts on this board are quite old, while, if I post something on the Cingular board, I can expect a reply withi...

were we talking about sprint turning off your phone, or, who has bad credit & having problems fixing it??? J/k......the lender (you called GAP) has 30 days to prove the debt is yours, if they cant (or sometimes wont even bother trying)prove the debt is yours, it HAS to be REMOVED PERMENANTLY BY LAW (Fair Credit Reporting Act)

Yes, it can be removed, but it will pop back up, because Gap still has the bad debt on their records. You have to go to Gap and settle it or it will continue popping up whenever they send a new batch of credit files to the reporting agencies. It may be that it has to be removed permanently, but there are A LOT of agencies and companies that violate that law every day. Bill Collectors are a good example.

Dude, you missed what he said

If you dispute it with the credit company, they contact the International Bank of GAP and ask for the sighned copy of your credit contract. If GAP ain't got it, and they do not get it to the credit company, the debt is GONE!!

Sure, that works if the debt was not supposed to be on there and accidently was put on there. In the original post, the feeling I got from it was that to help your credit score, you can improve your credit by sending the letter in. Hopefully, they won't be able to prove it in time, or may just over look it, and it'll come off your report. Then, since the bad debt is off, you can go get credit (or a new phone, or whatever it is you're after) and the rate or deposit will be lower.

I was just pointing out that that may happen, but the debt may pop up if it's still on Gap's databases.

This is how those rip off credit fixing companies fix your credit. Either by that, giving you a new Social Security Number, or out right lying

Actually the method most credit fixing companies use - is the one I listed.

The "dispute" method is the only industry-accepted method of cleaning up a credit report.

Quit whining. I have worked for sprint for a while now and have never seen anyone get shut off for no reason, let alone an error in the system. We don't do that. If you were shut off, there was a reason. Whether or not the Customer Service Rep could tell you why or not is a different story but I'm sure that there was someone who could tell you. Telling everyone to not go to sprint is just stupid. Every company will have something about them people won't like. Nobody is perfect, including you.

Yes, you have a spending limit on your account. Yes, it sucks when your phone gets shut off. Try this, get balance notification (2.99 a month) or better yet dont exceed your spending limit. As far going to a different carrier try doing it and you will see you wont get approved for anything less than a 500 deposit. You got approved with sprint for either a 0,125, or maybe 250. Sprint deposits dont go any higher than that. Maybe go to alltel and see if they can hose you with a 1000 depoit, but its sprint that sucks right?

your spending limit is based on your credit class. which is determined by your credit score. if you put down a deposit when you opened your acct then you most likely have spending limit of $125. if your acct ever exceeds that limit then they shut it off until it gets below the $125. if you have had an issue with it being it turned off b4 your bill cycle ends then it is probably bcuz you exceeded your minutes or you have a high mrc that is close to spending limit. or also if you didnt pay the full balance b4 your new bill came out. which is considered collection hotline. i apologize for insulting you but i cant stand it when people tell other people we are horrible based solely off of your experience and lack of knowledge. there is always goi...

How many times are whiny people like you going to come on and discredit wireless carriers because you can't have things YOUR way!? This is a business, and in this business we aren't out to make nice, we're out to make money. Now for arguement sake, maybe one or two times it was an unjust hotline, but for the most part, you get what's coming to you. There is a reason for everything! Maybe you're payment didn't post and two bills overlapped because YOU didn't send it in on time. The US postal service isn't always an ontime guarantee. Don't say things like "I never go over my minutes" because I can't even tell you how many people I embarass because I show them to their faces how many they went over by. Rant and rave all you want, you are...

No jackass, I'm not in a call center...which the "showing them to their faces" comment should have made painfully obvious.
So within your one sentence we've already confirmed your an idiot.

Actuallt, I'm just an easy going Sprint Dealer who gets volitile at whiny *ssholes like you who want the world handed to them on a silver platter.

Sinner,

You are correct about the wireless business. However you could have made your point in a much more polite and mature manner. Yes I know there are a lot of whiny people out there who think that everyone owes them something, but that does not give us the right to stoop to thier level and start name calling.

Yikes man, chill out. Does Sprint not pay enough? Every Sprint person I've ever dealt with have been rude. It's kind of weird, actually, since I've called the new customer line and they're the ones that should be the nicest. You know, trying to get customers and all.

Or you can always go to verizon an pay a $1000 deposit, they wont turn you off until you run up your bill to $1000 dollars.

If your service was hotlined and they couldnt not see why. There could have been ending charges not posted yet...ie; downloads, 411, *4, overages, etc. Many reps dont know how to look these up.

I've been with sprint since 97 and have never had my service hotline and it wasnt my falt
