Whats the story with the new Sprint commericals saying more coverage than any other carrier, I think we all agree it is a load of bull but I just wanted to know their claim and what they mean, I know VZW has the most coverage followed by Cingular but if I was a regular customer I would think that Sprint would have more coverage with no roaming charges than any other carrier, what is the true catch? Thanks

actually with sprints expanded voice coverage sprint does have more total voice coverage. the reason for this is sprint has more roaming agreements then any other carrier. if you cannot get coverage in an aria then that is because coverage is not there.

a great deal of the coverage is roaming but the america option is 5$ and covers all roaming fees. it includes digital and analog. analog is the most ectensive coverage in the us even though the voice quality is sub par. cingular phones cannot do analog and a lot of vzw new handsets do not have this capability also.

what is the catch? verizon and cingular include there roaming in there coverage map with out letting you know. they also do charge roaming out the wazoo or make oyu go on a r...

Actually I sell VZW, if you look at the coverage map the red area is digital coverage and the pink is the analog coverage, both are included in the Ams Choice plan at no additional roaming charges

Actually, it is a lot, considering other companies give you almost double the minutes for that same price.

I believe that Cingular also does not charge you roaming. In fact, unless you're on a regional plan, do ANY of the national carriers charge roaming?

you cannot compare cingulars coverage to vzw or sprints expanded voice coverage. cingular does not come close. at the least vzw and sprint both have 30% more coverage on there expanded voice networks

Per Verizon and Sprint's websites, here's the amount of people they claim to cover:

Sprint--including digital roaming: 287 Million
Sprint--incl dig and analog roaming: 293 Mill

Verizon America's choice plan: 289 Million

Sprint charges $5 to $10 per month extra, depending on the market, to avoid any roaming charges.
Verizon charges no roaming for any calls in the America's choice network, which is more expensive that it's regional/local plans.
For 900 minutes on Vzw America's Choice plan, cost is $60. For Sprint Fair & Flex plan, it's $65, including the add'l $5 for roaming ($10 in some markets).
Not really a whole lot of difference in coverage, and I don't see any cost saving in Sprint, giving the benefit of the doubt that thes...
