HTC Evo or LG Optimus S

Looking for some input from folks on which phone I should get. I am currently a Blackberry user, but am sick of it and am switching to an Android phone.

I typically use my phone for managing multiple e-mail accounts (both work and personal). Web surfing when I'm bored and pictures of my kids.

I have been doing some research and read several reviews and am struggling to decide which direction to go. Is it really worth the $199 for the Evo or do I save the money and go for the cheaper $49 Optimus.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

As far as I've seen and heard from customers, the EVO is worth the price.

while im not going to dispute that the evo is worth the price, the optimus also is worth its price which is lower and more. the optimus had the sprint id packs which allow for customization and the evo does not, both have mobile hotspot capabilities for 29.99/mo and if you dont have 4g access in your area, it might be a better and cheaper bet to go with teh optimus.

I do not live in a 4G area, but wonder when the metro detroit area will get 4G? That might be the deal breaker on the EVO. Thanks for the input!

The biggest question I have is whether you will need that 4G service. It doesn't sound to me like you're the power user that would most benefit. Not only do you have to shell out $150 more for the phone, you also have to shell out $240 in premium data over the life of the contract.

I use MetroPCS and I have the Optimus M. In Detroit you'd have EVDO, but I'm not in that market. I'm stuck with 1x, which is SLOW. For e-mails and such it's fast enough. For downloads, I login to Wi-Fi and it screams. For me, the decision is easy...the LG.

I cannot even imagine being happy with a touchscreen less than 4 inches anymore. Too bad Sprint isn't carrying any non-WiMAX phones that have larger displays.

I would go nuts trying to get through my life on a 3.2 inch display again. Fork out the money for the better handset. You'll be sorry if you don't, especially when using the browser.

My Moment seems to work fine, but then again I've never tried a larger screen. Maybe I'm missing out?

I would say that you should go by the size of the phone. the EVO is a large phone and has very large fonts. where the optimus is a good sized phone.

also, if you do not live in a 4G area, the EVO is not worth it.
