New Evo 4G not so hot!

Sprint is planing to change the pricing option for the EVO 4G instead of using the already existing ulimited plans that Sprint currently has. Based on my opinion, this will discourage customer from wanting to get that phone or better yet stay with sprint. Besides the Palm Pre and the HTC PRO 2, Sprint has not been coming up with any new pda devices that would compete with its competitors. However when i heard of the EVO 4G coming out, i thought it was a good chance for Sprint to make an impression but adding these additional fees will not help.

I love how people like to comment on information that don't actually know about. Let's post correct information about your topic here.

You state that Sprint is planning on changing pricing plans for the Evo. Sprint actually came out and stated the current plans will be compatible with the EVO (Everything Data Plans) but to get the 4G services you will have to pay an additional $10 a month. This negates whether or not customers wish to get the new phone, unless they are dead set on not paying an additional amount to go from 1.5Mbs to 10Mbs which is not really noticable for a phone.

Second, you state Sprint has not come out with a new pda phone since the Pre and HTC Pro 2. Really!?!?!? You're entire topic is based around an Android pho...

If it was just a 10.00 dollar charge extra, I'd understand. But, from what I've come to understand is therethere is more to the pricing grid than just an optional 10 dollar charge. As a matter of fact, there might complete separate plans for this Evo. And as far as the Hero and the Moment are concerned, those two devices didn't make a big impression at all. Which is why most of us including myself is stuck with the palm pre. Don't get me wrong I like my phone, but it's time to start lookin again.

I can definitely understand why you would be upset with the Pre, that was a mistake from launch. As for the pricing with with the plans for the Evo. I assure you, the plans will be the everything data plans. The additional charges come into effect when 4G ($10) is being brought into the fold and if you want the mobile wifi hotspot, that is an extra $30. I will agree that having to pay an extra $40 a month to get all the wonderful bells and whistles is a bit steep, but most people wont need the wifi hotspot.

On the topic of the Hero and Moment. I had been using an instinct s30 for a long time. I swore I would not go over to any of the android phones as I thought it was going to be another flop and feeble attempt to bring down the iphone. ...

Just from my experience with Sprint's 4G, they shouldn't charge more until it's a little more robust.
I have Sprint's 4G in my area, barely. It has trouble penetrating buildings.
So I couldn't justify the extra cost.

The $10.00 isn't for 4G. It is because of the anticipated high volume of data.

The phone must be on an Everything Data plan, then there is an additional $10.00 charge. It is still far below the cost of a smart phone on the Big 2.

I just hope they rethink about this. One equipment will not make them rich over night.

2.5 GHZ

The Good: Fast speeds, higher capacity

The Bad: Doesn't penetrate buildings and structures that well ☹️

...both have building penetration issues, but, the quality of both services for voice and data far outweigh crappy cellular and low band LTE performance.

You absolutely right lol but I could have warn you to stay away from the intinct haha. You think the Pre is bad? The instinct is worse of lol. Don't get me wrong the Hero and the Moment are pretty decent phones. But I personly prefer the pre out of those two. Either way..its not the end of the world right? I'll stick to the pre n keep heads up and eyes peeled for when there is something better out there that I can hopefuly afford haha.

Sprint PR rep states in this article the $10 is for having an EVO, not for 4G.

Correction, the Moment was the first android phone on Sprint. The Hero came out shortly after. Currently though, the Hero is the most sold Sprint phone we have. Goes back to your original claim that Sprint doesn't have a good PDA phone on the market.

I understand you are frustrated with Sprint, I can read it in the posts. But keep in mind, the phone you choose does determine your happiness with a provider. The pre was a mistake out the gate and this is the phone you are basing your opinion of Sprint right now. That phone has had numerous issues that I won't get into. The Hero and Moment also have issues if we are being honest here. At the same time, as a whole the android phones have outsold the Pre for a reason. They're just better phon...

Regardless of the shot-comings of the palm pre, I'd choose it any day over the hero or andriod. Keep in mind the sdk for the web os is by far easier to work with than any other I've known. Using what someone came up with is great...but making something everyone can use, is better. The palm pre I must admit is not for your average user. I can see something that need improvement, but not so much that I'd switch it for a hero or a moment. That is the reason why I'm so disapointed about the upcoming pricing for the Evo 4. That phone will definitely be a great replacement for my Palm Pre.

why do so few developers make apps for it?

Easy is very subjective. The only thing that matters is how something performs on the market, and the WebOs had a crappy ad campaign and crappy hardware.
