it seems to me that verizon is pumping out phones by the week. sprint needs to catch up or it will fall to verizon.

lol?

Verizon may be 'pumping out' a bunch of phones, but they pay a lot of money to get what is essentially repeats of old devices, with a new name. There's no need for 12 different bar-style keyboard phones, especially when five are from the same manufacturer, and only one of those five has any major improvements over the others.

It creates the illusion of constantly having new phones, but the phones themselves are nothing special. This constant purchasing of every new phone released helps to keep the customer's monthly rate high.

Sprint, with the exception of those blasphemous Nextel devices, tends to wait until there is a reason to spend money buying a new device before doing so. They stay up-to-date with major features, but are...

all i was trying to say is that sprint is not putting out as many phones and that is a key reason why a lot of people i know have left sprint.

Yeah, but that reason holds no water, so to speak. As Amarantim stated.....the simplicity in the lineup helps people choose in an easier fashion and allows for all types of phones while keeping rate plans down. Last time I went into a Verizon store, and it has been a couple of months, they still had a Razr in their demo phone lineup for purchase. A RAZR! They may have 70 different phones to choose from but you pay for that selection in the rate plans. And honestly, once you have chosen a phone realistically it will be a year before you recieve another discount, and everyone's lineup has changed within a year. Last April Sprint didn't have: Pre, Pixi, Moment, Hero, BB Tour, Curve 2, Rumor Touch, Sanyo 3810, Sanyo 2700, Samsung M330, HTC Touch...

sprint is sucking and losing millions of customers, they only have 30 mill cdma customers and verizon has over 80 MILLION, hence a lot more phones! sprint does not have the money to be investing in phones when they're just trying to stop the hemorrhaging of their dwindling customer base. HENCE once again the cheap service plans, and still noone wants them. years of mis treating their customers caught up to them, and GOOD they deserve what they got. The EVO will be a flop, not because it won't be a cool phone, but sprint won't market it right, and their bad reputation is still haunting them.

i disagree. the evo will do great. we have lots of customers anticipating its release. i agree sprint did have a bad rep but no one can compete with the everything data plans that we offer. everybody else is way over priced for data plans or plans for pda's. name anybody that has a plan with any time any mobile, data, gps, and sms and 450 min for land lines for 69.99. the one down side is the fact that we dont have a just unlimited talk plan

No it's not the other carriers are over priced-Sprint is way under priced. Dan Hesse realized sprint predicament and is trying to steam the hemorrhaging. Sprint has a better network than AT&T yet they're charging double what sprint is and raking in the customers, and verizon is doing the same. Even with Dan Hesse screaming look at us we're cheaper than everyone still noone wants sprint. The few cheerleaders on this site don't represent the facts, the numbers are out soon, and I'm sure it will be sad.

I bet it wont be, last quarter sprint only had a net loss of 100k customers, alot better than the million we were losing before. And yes i know most of the add subs where prepaid.

We will see soon enough but with the numbers verizon and att had i don't hold out much promise. It would be nice to see them stop losing post paid accounts.

The HTC Evo 4G will play a huge part in this. Sprint will GAIN Post Paid customers by the drove loads. Count on it! A majority of this population pool will have been prior iPhone users too.

I just hope customer's check 4G coverage first. It's fast and strong, where it exists. Those in 4G cities will benefit massively from the switch, both in network quality, data speed, and pricing.

Those in 3G areas might still benefit, but they'll also generate the misconception that the 4G phone "isn't that fast", not realizing that the 4G speeds aren't available in all areas.

We will see. I just hope this 3G/4G confusion doesn't hurt Sprint's reputation any more.

Sprint really needs to start releasing more phones. So far we got 3 this year? Verzion and the rest have released at least 4 or 5 each. Including one high end phone while sprint has released 3 teen phones..... Sprints lineup is looking old already.. went from awesome and top of late last year to now the bottom. Hopefully their smart about evo release but something tells me they wont be.

Sprint has released more phones than that on the Nextel side alone.
