😕

I do a lot of texting on a daily bases. And I wasn't sure if a touch pad was a way to go. I currently have a BB pearl which i need to retire, its worked its full 2 years. I love it but Its time for something new. Anyone????

I am just speaking for myself here... but I love my Hero. Granted it is the first smartphone I have ever owned, but I think it is awesome. If you are coming from a BB... you may need to get used to the interface and the touch screen keyboard. BUT, its got a GREAT predictive text input that automatically fixes words for you, it has the availability of thousands of Android apps, and a screen that kicks the **** out of any BB.

If you have anymore questions, ...

I was also wondering if the touch screen would mess up over time? due to the amount of texting I do daily. I know its true for the instinct, but was there a way to improve that factor?

I too had a pearl and went to the Hero. I love it. I text a lot. The predictive text on it works amazing. I text on it up and down mostly and I have little issues with it and I have fatter fingers. Little harder to text and drive but you shouldn't do that anyway...

There are Android apps out that cover speech to text. Not sure how good they are, but if you wanna "text and drive" I would look into them.

No if there are BB apps that do that, or how they compare. Would be an interesting read tho.

I believe Android 2.1 has it I.E. the Nexus One already has it.
Other Android devices to follow.

I would say the Samsung Moment personally... but between Hero and Tour, I would go with the Hero.

The only things that would change my mind, personally, would be:

if you plan on traveling alot - Tour is world capable
if you are attached to BB Messenger
if you have business needs for a BB.

Otherwise, for me, the question is keyboard vs touch screen. And I'd pick the touch screen hands down each time. Your preference may be different.

Hold off, if you can. Theses a newer version of the Hero coming out, it's called the HTC Legend. Google it, you'll see. It has a nice metalic casing.

Ok, you might think that texting on a Virtual Keypad is hard. Youre right! At first it is. The Hero has a Calibration tool that allows you to calibrate the keypad to your personal touch. This makes the texting a whole lot easier.
Other than that, give it time. You will get used to it quickly.
The options and customization on the Hero make it the last phone you may ever need, if ya take care of it.
