Palm Pre (Pre ordering?)
Is there any store out there doing Palm Pre Preordering? I called a local store to ask about a wait list or something and they told me to just come in today and set up an account and they will make sure that I get one. Is any other dealer doing the same?

So you are doing a wait list even for new customer? I will go into the store maybe tonight and clarify what the guy was talking about. If it is not a wait list then I will just hope for one on the 6th.

Yes even for new activations. If they customer prefers, we will run their credit in advance and give the customer their account #, pin #, and security question and ask them to bring that back for us to reaccess the account when they activate their Pre.
However if you fully activate an account and perhaps go with a free phone to get you started, then you will have to exchange it for the Pre. Which would in most cases cost a $35 restocking fee. This may not be what they are doing, but if it is, you should not do this.

Hit up www.sprint.com/palmpre and you may be able to sign up to get it earlier.

I would not trust an authorized dealer!!! they will not get the same inventory levels as a corporate store! you will end up buying a crappy phone hoping to exchange it and when they sell out and don't call you for your exchange you will be out of luck...
