Contract Buyout?

Verizon81

May 18, 2009, 5:34 PM
question...maybe silly but I'm still asking 🙂

A lady at the local sprint store said that Sprint buys out the remainder of contracts for people that want to switch from time to time....are they doing that now or is that a possibility?

I currently have Verizon Family plan with 2 lines and want to move to Sprint...why? I am just tired of paying more for less to be honest just my two cents....

Thanks

Its not a sprint policy, but sometimes regional sprint stores and third party dealers will do that. My biggest concern is that you might get lied to and stuck with a etf with verizon. So with that all said if you decide to take the route of canceling, make sure you get everything in writing from the sprint store that is offering this, because sprint 95% of the time will honor anything that you can prove you were offered.

Thanks so much for the info! So I would call a district rep? I think our etf would be $320 (for the two lines on the fmaily plan)....the lady at the store in the mall said that her manager couldn't do anything like that ☚ī¸

I like in upstate ny if that helps if you know anyone! lol

i would never leave Verizon for sprint...sprint is a horribly run company that is losing millions of dollars and a million customers every 3 months..that is not good..they're not doing well because they treat their customers like crap. you pay a little more for verizon service, but it's worth it when you need to call cs, or get your phone replaced in store, not to mention making calls. sprints network is crap and everyone has figured that out that's why they can't get anyone to sign up with them..you get a lot of dropped calls with sprint too. i would strongly reconsider your decision, you are sure to regret being with sprint.

Ya save 50 bucks a month, thats so retarded save 1200 dollars every 2 years.... wow my friend you have brain damage, and sprint has lost millions of customers but you are wrong they posted a profit still, they made less than years before but still made more money than t-mobile and posted a profit. And how is sprint networks crap... they have the fastest 3g, and they have 4g before anyone else.... And calling CS are you kidding me, sprint has the lowest wait times out of any of the major four check jd power... and sprint had most improved cs also in jd power. Most of those customers Spint is bleeding are IDEN customers, however. I can't believe you are here blasting Sprint. That is so juvenille. If the man wants to leave Verizon, that is his right. I just cannot understand one thing, Verizon81: How is it that you have a $160 ETF per line? That means that you have only been in your current contracts three months or so. Why did you re-up and suddenly decide you want to port to Sprint? That is like having a kid and then deciding you want to divorce your wife? Sure it happens, but why did you wake up one day and decide you were miserable? I am not trying to talk you out of it. I would port my four lines but Sprint cannot match the discounts which I am receiving. (I know it sounds unbeliev...

wow if 30 dollars for blackberry service is just way way to much for you then i get it. But with verizon you get the larger calling area, the biggest 3G footprint and a company that is not failing. you also get friends&family with the best call quality of any company. sprnt is closing stores, and with verizon aggressive LTE plans 4G will be here next year...clearwire is losing money. think about it.

I'll think about it. Buying Nextel was a stupid plan for Sprint...but it's done. Your Verizon Fanboy Syndrome (aka VFS) can be cured. Simply report to your nearest Sprint store and take the network out for a test drive. I never drop calls the way I did on Verizon and I pay less for my service. Customer service is improving, but how often should you need to contact them anyway?

I had Verizon last year. they were horrible, so I ran to AT&T and have had better service since. I hate to burst your unrealistic bubble, but Verizon is not all that great. Are they a good carrier, yes, I think Verizon is good. But are they are the best? Heck no.

sry to burst your bubble but sprint only retained its 50 million mark because they're choosing to overflood the iden network with a bunch of poor credit folks.they still lost a million POST PAID customer to only replace with with poor credit pre-paid folks...not a smart move that's how they ran off the entire nextel crowd to begin with...treating nextel like a red headed step child..when they were once a thriving company doing very well before lame sprint got ahold of them..now the remaining high apru customer will continue to port at record pace because all the yo yo G G Boost customers will be on there overloading the system..another bad move by sprit.

If it were $30 in total I would probably stay. If you are actually comparing plans the difference would be much greater than $30. You have to factor in the unlimited text messages & gps you get with sprint. So that $30 jumps to a minimum of $50, and that is just 1 line. Since I have 2 lines that is quite a difference in price. Plenty of my friends have Sprint and they have great service. My guess is it probably depends on where you live...

That is what got us....we get 700 minutes to share, 9pm night and weekends and unlimited text, pics flix and data...for the plan price plus $30 per phone....
you get so much more with sprint and the folks I have talked to locally love it. I am not bashing either company just don't see the point of staying, minues the ETF LoL.

when you figure $30 per phone, plus $10 GPS per phone that is $80 per month without the 7pm nights etc....over 24 months (if you were re-uping) that is huge...just my 2 cents.

I emailed sprint customer service and they said at this time they are not buying out contract............rats!

My guess is Sgt_Joker's math is wrong. He/She can't even comprehend the huge savings by switching from VZW to Sprint. As stated in previous posts, by switching to Sprint I will be saving about $100 a month, not $50. Even if it were only $50 why would I stay? Verizon must really pay their employees well because it seems money is no object for the sgt. Also, 27% for a VZW employee seems pretty crappy. I would think about looking for another job. Maybe apply for a customer service job at Sprint, you are very helpful.

Let's do some math kids. A truly unlimited everything plan with Verizon is $139.99 a month.

Okay....let's see....$139.99 times .27 equals....a discount of $37.79.

$139.99 minus the $37.79 equals......$102.20.

Hmmmm....wait a minute....Sgt. Joker, guess what! I can put you on a plan without the "I'm gonna bash Sprint discount" and still save you a couple of bucks per month.

Most people like to get facts before spouting off nonsense, but since you don't here is a tidbit for you. Sprint DOES handle manufacturer warranties at their service centers.

Corporate discounts are a non-issue because most are the same or better with Sprint. And even if a discount is higher with verizon, my math still says that 27% off of 180 is a lot more than 25 or 23% off of 130.

Lastly, first quarter Sprint lost less than a million customers so the tide is already turning. What would you know about Sprint's customer service since you aren't a Sprint customer? Sprint's care is 100 times better and even getting recognized and winning awards.

Trying getting some information that isn't 2+ years old.

That's funny! My fiance's company had Verizon, and they were paying an outrageous sum of money every month. She put together a presentation to show that her office alone would save over $3500/month and had all the lines switched to Sprint. When their Verizon rep asked why they were leaving, she told him what they would pay on Sprint's Simply Everything plan, and he told her there was no way he could come close to matching it! The best he could do would be to know 10% off of their current plans. Now, considering the fact that the VZN plans they had were NOT unlimited calls, and also that they still had months with overages, and now they have unlimited calls, texts, data, picture mail, etc, they are saving a cubic butt-ton of money...

And in case you dont realize it, Verizon needs that agreement. They dont have as much native coverage as you think they do. And no, the native footprint is not "tiny."
