Tech question...OK two questions...

Hello everyone!

Background: Earlier this week my Samsung m520 automatically recommended a firmware update. I completed the update. Then it asked me to register my picture mail acc't, which I did. Today I tried to access the Sprint Music Store, and it asked me to update that, too. So I did. Now I can't access the music store (or the songs on the memory card). The startup screen ("Java Powered" with the coffee cup and the red and white striped scrolling thing) comes on, the scrolling stops and the phone goes back to the main menu. The solution matrix can't help me, so the "tech support rep" is sending me to a service & repair center. She did say she'd call me back tomorrow to get me an "advance exchange" if the problem is a device ...

when i updated my razr 3vm with the OTA updates it stopped working. it would boot the the "M" screen and site there. I had to call retentions and he gladly sent me a new razr.

then like 3 months later i flashed the orig razr and gave it to a friend 🙂

retention no longer has the power to send out phones they would be glad to get you over to tech support though to get the issue fixed 😁

Retention can if you truely need one but they are not going to if you had one problem with it. Did they do a hard reset to the device that should had cleared up the issue with the Music Store and then the Service and Repair center could do the update to be sure of no data transfer corruption. If it is software then they should be able to fix it without an exchange. And that would fix you problem. Tech support often sends you into the store for just that reason and so they can back up you contacts before the hard reset.

actually i just reflashed the sprint firmware to it and it worked again 😁

then later i did flash it to vzw and give it to a friend. suprisingly, it was able to be activated on good ol vzw

but yes. flashing would solve your problem. just download the sprint rom and a flashing prog and you'll be set

Your phone most likely just needs to be fully reset. Take it to a corporate repair store if you have one close to you (avoid 3rd party ones).

The closest corporate store is 60 miles away. Is the 3rd party store really that bad an option?

Depends. I'd call them before going, though. Some are great, some are awful.

I don't know what a "master reset" is.

We went to a Sprint (corporate) store over the weekend, and he called in to the tech support department. They sent a text message and re-updated the Music Store, which solved the problem. Heck, I could have done that!

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. 🙂
