Well that is a tricky question. If you look at the dark blue area in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and the Dakotas, Alltel and Sprint have a 10 year contract there. Sprint owns the spectrum and Alltel owns the towers. So I am assuming under the lease Sprint will have the opportunity to purchase these towers. The other possibility is another company to purchase the towers and Sprint to start a new lease with that company. Only time will tell...
I don't forsee Sprint purchasing these towers as a permanent asset as they have pretty much sold off the majority of them to American Tower and lease the towers back from American Tower. If anything, Sprint may purchase those towers and flip them over to American Tower. From my understanding of the whole wireless tower sale to American Tower, Sprint was freed up with capital that had been tied up in the physical towers.
