About as stupid as typing all that out instead of saying "yes."

This isn't shop talk, it's the general sprint board where it's mostly customers. Even if it's a question a rep has answered a hundred/thousand times, it may be the first time a customer has needed the answer.

Yes. Go to your online VM account and write down your account # and password and go to a Sprint store.

Well, then you need to educate the Sprint folks in Duluth, Minnesota, because they said nope, can't do it.

Porting from prepaid is not easy.
3 things have to be in place to port from prepaid:
1) You have to have your prepaid account number.
2) You have to have set up your information (name/address) on the prepaid account so that when our porting department calls to get the number from your prepaid company they can match up all that information.
3) You have to have bought your phone from someone competent who actually set up all your personal information on your prepaid account, or in some cases you have to call in post purchase to set up this information yourself.

Because the information frequently isn't there at all or because it doesn't match what the customer gives us there is many cases where prepaid porting DOES NOT WORK. For this ...

Virgin mobile is a sprint reseller, you cannot port a number from VM to sprint.

I just went all the way through it the other day, got to the very end, and it errored out and said "Porting from a sprint reseller is not allowed"

I would assume the same for boost... but I do not know for sure

you cant port from boost mobile because Boost accounts arealready in the same billing system as sprint/nextel.. all they do for boost is migrate your account from boost to a normal account which is retarded because you wont qualify for a new phone. Virgin mobile accounts are not in the same billing system so you should be able to port into sprint. From experience Helio, Virgin mobile and other prepaid carriers usually take FOREVER to port if they even work.. your better off getting a new number

Ive been away for a while, and yes.. in theory, you SHOULD be able to, but again, through RMS it specifically says something to the effect of "Cust is already a sprint customer, port not available"

So again.. it theoretically sounds like it would just be simple to do, but does not work in RMS. When you put the number in to check eligibility, it says its okay, but after tendering the transaction, it kicks it back with that error.
