Here's the killer quote... "Sprint Nextel Corp. was the only carrier in the survey to score below the industry average, posting a score of 79."

I know many of you discount the JD Powers report, but please be honest with yourself; if they had rated Sprint well you'd all be posting it here...

JD Power also ranked Sprint at the bottom last year while ranking Virgin Mobile tops in pre-paid. They of course use the Sprint network entirely. I noticed they didn't make the same embarrasing mistake again.

Who cares! -only a small niche of phone geeks could give a rat ass about JD!

You people who are constantly doging on sprint need to get a life. I was at a sprint store yesterday and this little old lady came in and was jealous of her grand children's iphone so she wanted to get the Instinct. I stood there listening to her rave about sprint and how she didn't want to leave because she loves the service so much. She doesn't care about JD, or churn, or how many customers they lost. This is the majority of Sprint's customers, Get some perspective and grow up!

Ok, i have an honest question here. Where exactly does JD Powers get their info anyway? Is it from a list or people that they contact annually? And just how many people were surveyed?

I hate surveys. The survey company will talk to a few hundred people and use that data to tell you how the nation thinks about things. I hope that JD Powers uses lots of people for their surveys.

Think about this. If a survey company talks to 30,000 people, thats .0001% of the population in the US. I don't think thats enough to really guage how people truly think or feel about something.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree, thatguy. It also depends on what questions are asked. I mean, do they ask random people, "Which cell phone company do you think is the worst?". If so, you can have people who never used Sprint, but have heard in the past from previous survey results, that Sprint ranks lowest, and that is what they will answer. It should be more along the lines of "Who is your carrier? Rank them from 1-10", and then base their choice on the average score of each carrier, and use the same number of customers for each carrier.
Let's face it, you can spin a survey to show whatever you are trying to prove.
If you read through the forums here on PS, you see every carrier has customers that raise hell and say they hate whatever service they happen to b...

He fails to mention that AT&T always rates poorly as well in both JD Power and Consumer Reports.

Those two organizations have probably forced more companies out of business with their "expert ratings" than any other around. It's sad that folks like him base their purchasing decisions on someone else's opinion rather than personal experience.

There is no substitute for personal experience.

I really really really can't get behind writing off reviews because they're not 'personal experience'. 'Personal experience' is way too expensive. I'll stick to learning from everywhere I can, reviews included.
