Touch Or Instinct ?

Just would like to get your thoughts on which phone you feel would be the best buy? I use a phone for music, basic calendar appointments and gmail / yahoo plus some web browsing mostly news sites and sports sites.

I've had the touch and now own the Instinct. If you can find one in stock, get it fast! Dude, this phone is awesome, I am finally satisfied and I usually go through about 10 or more phones a year because I never could find the perfect phone. No phone will be perfect for anyone, but the Instinct is freaking awesome!

Get the Instinct. I've been working with Sprint for quite a while now and so far, I've heard so many complaints about the Touch like it freezes a lot or it slows down like hell. So far I've heard no complaints about the Instinct. Hope you choose well. ๐Ÿ˜

I work at a sprint corporate store, and have seen the exact opposite. In the last 2 weeks, we've had 15 instincts returned for various issues.

The touch, on the other hand seems to have more ESO (equipment smarter than operator) issues. Things like customers having 10+ programs running at the same time then getting upset that their battery is crap and the phone is slow. Well, OF COURSE that's going to happen. Learn to use the phone. That's the nice thing about the Instinct is that you can't possibly have that happen. When you switch from one app to another, it closes the other one automatically.

But if you need a phone for a calendar, and want to sync it with Outlook, then you can't use the Instinct.

I've got the Touch, and...

On 9/2 (according to WiPOD) the Touch Diamond comes out so if your looking to go the Touch route I'd hold out till then.

Was there anymore info in regards to the Diamond release on 9/2? How reliable of a source is WiPod?

Quite reliable if you ask me. Unless HTC doesn't meet the unit volume Sprint requests from them or higer ops had a change of heart and postponed again the release date of this phone. ๐Ÿ˜

I own the touch and I went to check out the instinct when it came out to see if I might prefer it. If you are relatively intelligent and understand or can learn how a windows mobile device works then the touch is hands down, far and away miles above the better device.

It will require some customization but you will not regret it. I'll give a few examples of what I have my phone set up to do.

I can play youtube videos right from the actual youtube website or download them to my phone then send them to my computer (tcpmp)

visual voicemail- my system not only lets me see who called and play messages but also transcribes them for me to read in one easy app. (simulsays)

with spb phone suite I can have it set to accept only my list...

iknownothing ... youknowsomething

VERY good response to this question.

It really depends on what your needs are as these devices are 2 totally different beasts. The Instinct in a multimedia device where the Touch is an actual PPC.

Again very good response to this question iknownothing.

I personally have a touch, and I can't stand it. Last week I had to go back to my A900 because i wasnt recieving any text, or incoming calls. When I made an outgoing call it would drop the call. I went to the tech, had it reset, it worked for maybe two days and started it all over again. They're in the process of ordering me a new one. hopefully this works...I've never had problems with any of my phones except this one. Just be caution, of what your getting.

It's cautious, not caution. Or you could say it as "Just use caution with what you would be getting." ๐Ÿ˜

I love the touch, even tho it has some flaws, but I cannot see myself owning a Instinct. It's too big for the features in my opinion. I mean that thing is huge, and I don't like getting something brand new because of fears of defects. And with the backorder status on that phone it will take a long a$$ time to get a replacement brought in.

By the way, if you have a touch, don't do the HTC update yet until they get the bugs out. Wait until sprint releases it at www.sprint.com/downloads

Im going to have to disagree with you Drake unfortunately. The new ROM is stellar and have absolutely no complaints ... well 2 VERY minor ones (but simple fixes). Once booted the "end apps" application is a little glitchy but with a Diamond task manager .cab install this was fixed immediately ... as well as the notifications that the Opera beta preinstall glitches with; but again with the Diamond Opera .cab install this fixes this problem as well.

Threaded texting is a super plus and my GPS working is awesome. Have all my other 3rd parties up and running smoothly ... absolutely no complaints. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I will note though ... Still using sMMS for picture mail though; funny how a third party can access Sprints picture mail service yet the carrier just cant fix it in with an update ๐Ÿ˜• ??!! This is something that i have a hard time wondering what on earth is going on ๐Ÿคจ
