Sprint & Verizon Roam on Eachothers Networks?

I have a friend that I've been traveling with a lot lately that has Sprint and I have Verizon. I've been thinking of switching to Sprint hence why I'm asking this question. When ever we were in areas of spotty coverage it seemed when my phone showed "extended network" his Sprint phone showed he was on the Sprint network and when ever my phone showed it was using the Verizon network his phone showed he was roaming.

So, do Sprint and Verizon roam on eachothers networks? If so, wouldn't that mean the coverage is the same on either provider?

Sprint and Verizon both have huge networks, but verizon native network is much larger. Now as far is roaming is concerned, a sprint phone will hold onto a weak signal even if it is bad before jumping into roam. The real bottom line is Verizon has unlimited roaming, will sprint has rules and will kick you off the network if your roam to much. It cost sprint a lot of money. I personally would not consider sprint, they're are doing horrible for a reason.

Well, while coverage is defeinetley a concern for our business, unless it's a MASSIVE problem with Sprint the 50% savings in wireless services is more important to us.

The one thing that I already know I will lose with VZW is the service, VZW will just about bend over backwards to keep their customers happy (expect for when it comes to their pricing).

I don't know...50% savings in exchange for not as good customer service and a slight decrease in coverage? Might be worth it for us.

That is a decision you have to make on your own. If you're in business I think when the chips are down it would be more important to have the reliability of Verizon.

I know sprint works well, but there are many downfalls for cheaper prices. One example was when I ported to sprint and not two weeks later we had a major black out in our city. My sprint service went completely out, apparently the back up generators are battery powered, while verizon uses gas generators. And no forcing my phone to roam, did not work. I was dead in the water, while my sisters Verizon phone was working all 3 days while my phone was a paper weight.

And another thing I don't like about Sprint is the store experience. I hated going into a Sprint store it took ...

what area of the country are you in? I might be able to help you out.

sprint and verizon do roam off of each other. their coverages are 99.99999% the same when you include the roaming areas. If you ever have issues with customer service with sprint, go into a store, especially if you got your phone in a store. they should be more than happy to help out a customer that got service at their store. If not, go to another one, that store doesn't deserve your future business.
and as for bending over backwards to make a customer happy, I personally do as much as I can. one instance in particular, is that I took a bill payment from a customer and mistakenly told her she needed to pay $5 less than she actually did to pay on her bill to ...

Area is Portland Oregon.

Years and Years ago before cell phones were as popular as they are now I was in a regional management position and traveled the country a LOT. At that time I had Sprint because they were the only carrier, again at the time, that had solid coverage in pretty much every major city across the U.S. The only problem was you had to be IN the major city (like the dense urban portion), on a major highway or at/near a major airport...Everywhere else there wasn't a signal (which was fine at the time, and better than other carriers in terms of national coverage).

Then I planted firmly in Portland Oregon area and found that Verizon is absolute KING here in terms of coverage from back then till now and since seems like th...

No, Verizon actually has a smaller Network footprint, if you have read the previous threads dog.

And Verizon does the same thing if you roam too much, they are the ones who started it.

Verizon does not work and Sprint does it the area.

Typical V-Dub fanboy not listening to customers and just saying they are better. 🙄
