I don't think Sprint is going to update their iDEN towers or have another manufactured iDEN phone. The next PTT Blackberry should be EvDO rev.A, Q Chat, HPPTT, not iDEN PTT.

Yes, there is going to be a new DC RIM/Blackberry phone. When? Not too sure when the launch is. I know a field tester who always has the future phones. Will keep you posted.

The field tester and BETA testers in my area, have not seen any updates for iDEN through towers, and have not seen any BETA iDEN phones. Dan Hesse did state there will be a BB PTT phone when he was talking about Push to X in his webcast. I don't see iDEN getting updated or new handsets soon. Especially when Sprint having too many issues with FCC and investors.

The phone may be for Sprint or another carrier. I beleive it's for another carrier, outside the U.S. There are plenty of iDEN phones I've seen that haven't hit the U.S. market. I guess time will tell.

because there really is no true answer. Its up in the air pretty much. Just like Yean stated, because they would need to uodate the towers. Sprint is asking the FCC another year to clear up part of the spectrum

You're probably not going to see iDEN in the near future with Sprint. Sprint intended to purchase and resale Nextel, or re-brand. I give Sprint's iDEN network till 2012. Why would Sprint continue on PTT iDEN when Sprint's new focus is CDMA EvDO rev.A HPPTT, Q Chat? Too many problems with iDEN.
