Technically its all just ROAMING

Lets say I have a cdma carrier like sprint or VZW or us cell in the chicago area. now I go roam(travel) arent I mostly going to be using someone else's tower so now it really comes down to phone selection and pricing...

One of my buddies and his cousin travel cross-country. my bud has Sprint and us cellular, his cousin has Verizon. Each phone has dead zones in different places. They have roaming agreements in place only in certain areas. Just because a verizon phone is capable of using a sprint tower does not mean that it will. If there is no agreement between the specific providers in that area, your phone wont work.

I wish things worked the way you described.... I really do..... Unfortunately that is not the reality of the situation. From my buddy's travels, they have found that overall Verizon had reception in more places that THEY WERE GOING, but not by much. If you plan on going cross country your experience may be different. My experience ...

ok since you have sprint in chicago, here is a question for you.

my buddy has a pearl and before that a regular phone and the signal strength goes from one bar to full bars back to 2 bars and so forth.

your thoughts

My phone has done that before, not very often...it never impacted my ability to make or receive calls tho.

on your phone don't mean much at all...... I'm all about palm. I tried trading in my huge 755p w/extended battery for a pearl..... that didnt work out so well. Screw RIM and their outages..... 👿
