What's Going to Happen With Sprint

With the recent announcements of Sprint lay-offs and stocks plummeting, many are asking "what will happen with Sprint. Will they go out of business?"

What will happen is this: if Sprint continues to fall, some other big corporation will simply buy them out at a good price. In this case, the new company would likely re-brand and rename Sprint's current products with their's.

But why would anyone want to buy Sprint at all, some might ask?

Sprint's acquisition of Nextel may prove to be their life saver after all. Most government and businesses in America rely heavily on Nextel phones for instant communication, and no other national wireless company offers this. While both VZW and AT&T have PTT phones in their line-ups, they are ineffic...

I think your on the right track. Bottom line is that Sprint has a tremendous about of assets that have simply been mismanaged. Sprint has too many customers to go out of business and a data network that already is well ahead of the competition. Sprint has simply been completely mismanaged by Gary Forsee and others. I would like to see what Hesse can do, but as a stockholder I have faith in Sprint's assets, if not their choice in managment. If Sprint continues to fail, even with WiMax, then its a safe bet they will be bought out, rebranded by a company that knows how to do business. When this happens the tide of customer perception that is killing Sprint now will change. Remember America is a mob of consumers, they often don't think for thems...

Amen. Bottom line is that customers don't need to panic and think that their phones will suddenly stop working because Sprint goes belly up. SOME company will own them, and will have to honor current subscriber agreements, or face going out of business themselves.

Again, the only real tragedy here is the jobs that are being lost. For that there is no bright side.

As I stated in another forum thread, that's the price these people pay for working for a Fortune 500 company. There isn't job security anymore in the public sector. Be smart and obtain a position within one of the federal government agencies or with the USPS.

Job security is a thing of the past.

Your right. The downside is the corporate employee's in Reston, VA and at other levels that are out of a job. Plus stockholders like myself who have taken a tremendous loss and will have to wait a long time before they can even think of selling. But the upside is Sprint is not a flash in the pan computer software company thats here one day and gone the next. The stock and the company will improve...albeit slowly. Buy Sprint stock now if your willing to wait to cash out!

Yeah, if SK Telecoms, or some other successful company buys them out, watch the stock go back up big time.
