Poll for store reps re: Rumor
1) How long has it been since you have had the phone in stock?
2) Do you work for Corporate, Indirect, or national retailer (best buy, rat shack, etc.)
Im trying to get a feel if corporate just screwed us royal in the corp. stores.
We havent had them in stock in my region since the week after they launched.

We've been out since the end of the first week in Dec .... I am an indirect
And now with LG halting the distribution because of firware issue, who knows when we will get them.

there has been some problems with the phone. They have stopped shipping the phones at the moment because of some errors on the phone itself. LG is trying to fix it. I'm not sure if they have already fixed it through. Cause thru telesales, black rumor is available again.

Corporate retail. Out since a few days after Thanksgiving.
I'm not sure that I buy the firmware thing as the cause of the lack of them. I only saw one, a single one, come back unexplicably bricked in October and November. That was out of all the ones our store sold and every indirect in our area. We're the only service place around, so we would have seen more if the problem was rampant.
Given such a low rate at which people were bricking them, it doesn't make sense to me to pull it. I'm not sure if there are other factors or a manufacturing shortage, but the firmware issue alone is not satisfactory as a reason for me.

We have been out since first week of December. However I saw a message from BrightPoint phone distributors right after thanksgiving that said that both the LG LX160 and LX260 (Rumor) were being pulled for "Battery Issues" and in the mean time they would offer the Samsung M300 with an additional $50 instant rebate for the trouble.
In the meantime they continued to sell the phone both Online and through Telesales in the Black/Blue and announced a Green/Silver version to launch 02/17/08. After that annoucement they came out with the firmware statement.
I have no clue what Sprint is up to.

about 10 days since we had one, and that was just because we were fliping people to a BOGO on the katanaDLX and adding visionor people just wanted the free katana2 or free M300

Has any one checked to see if Best Buy or Radio Shack is out. Last I checked Best Buy was still selling them and they were the last one that had inventory of the Rumor since most corp stores are sold out.

Radio Shack in TX never got them. They were about to start stocking them right before the original "Battery Recall". I haven't seen them at our Best Buy either. Keep in mind this insanity is not limited to the Rumor... the LG LX160 is also gone.

if you work at a corp store you can direct ship both color rumors from rms... ive done about 10 since our store ran out. You just go to find item, type in lg....scroll down to lg 260....there are two different skus (one for white and one for black) select whatever color you want, check the Direct ship box and press ENTER twice. it will bring up the discount box where you pick the discount, close it, change the price to the new two year price by doing a "system upgrade" when you tender out just change it to "ship to store" and when they get to your store you can set them up and call your customer to come pick up there phones. I only do this for new activations... Upgrades arent worth the time or trouble

I dont fully believe the whole glitch with the Rumor. My sister has it, and she didnt push any buttons while it was powering down. The phone ran outta battery and when she turned it back on it said "Service Required" But hey we just got a batch of 4,000 White Rumors and 3,200 Black Rumors just a few minutes ago through Telesales! 😉
