Why does it seem that the Sprint guys hate most Motorola phones? The curious thing to me is the fact that most Verizon people like them. As they are both CDMA you would think they would preform the same.
...
cuz their phones are crap on sprint.
...
i would like to know why there crap?? whats the difference between a sprint moto and like..AT&T??
...
Sprint = crappy cdma
At&t = even crappier gsm
moto = worst phones in world
moto sprint = ____?____
moto + at&t = ____?____
You fill in the blanks
...
you have shown you know little!
...
no, i have told the truth. all cell service sucks. its just who's service sucks less and by default, cdma is better then gsm
...
whatever you say. All cell service does not suck. You might not understand what it is and therefore expect too much. I dunno. Its basically a radio and not perfect and never will be. And if you think they all suck then what are you comparing it too?
...
Some folks dont know how great we have cell service vs Europe. As long as you have cdma you realy can't have that bad of service. If you they want worse they could always go to At&t and get lied to about service.
...
so so true. I am in japan the best place for cell technoligy. Whatever. I have had droped calls, can't connect just as much or more here then in the states. I will take my service back from the states any day over this. While WCDMA is much better then GSM I still prefer my service in the states!
...
Well because Motorola provides horrible phones for Sprint. It is also not just Sprint guys but Nextel guys as well who has bashed Motorola many times. I have been voicing my opinion on how horrible Motorolaβs devices for Sprint and Nextel have been. They want quality phones with good RF while it seems like Motorola does not care. I cannot answer why Verizon people like them.
...
i work for sprint andi hate motorola! they have horrible phones! there is always a problem w them and they suck anybody that has the razr will vouch that that phone sucks just as an example, or anybody who has had hte q will also let you know. the phone sucks!
...
I actually like my Q ... a lot...
the RAZR has issues across the board- any carrier any version, just ask a rep at those stores. VZW also has a couple other phones from moto right now, besides the Q and RAZR which are decent, but not fantastic
...
i had the moto q and i hated it real bad and my boyfriend had it and hated it and i sold one ot his friend and he hates it too
...
What a good friend selling a piece of junk. How dare you do that. π€£ π
...
The reason why sprint reps hate moto is cuz we deal with those crapy phones all the time when ppl call in to say that they dont work for some reason or the other. i bought a kzr and it was slow, the camera sucked and the battery is horrible compared to my 6800. now i get better battery life on this ppc that runs more applications and has a bigger screen than my kzr!! stupid moto and their stupid UI!!grrr!! πΏ
...
Moto phones break. It's just a fact. The break down everytime you turn around. It is also the easiest company next to palm to deal with for a warranty replacement though. They're also the quickest. They have more features, but less ability to run any of them. They look cooler, until you realize that everyone has one. They are awesome phones, for the first three days on the market. That's my opinion. Just make sure you have the number for web returns written down. π
...
Yea. I do not know that might be a minority because when the Q first came out and same with the RAZR those 2 devices were horrible. After some software upgrades both increased in performance but still horrible.
...
Yea the RAZR and the Q where both horrible. On the Nextel side well not many good phones either.
...
Have had two Moto's from Nextel, both have been good phones, lasting over two years each in dirty environment. Also have Moto's on Verizon, have had no issues at all, just no problems.
I much prefer the Nextel UI to Verizon or Sprint. Lots more you can do to configure the Nextel Moto's. Also, with Nextel Moto's, you get an amazingly accurate GPS receiver that actually works as a GPS receiver even off-network. Try that one with VZ or others.
Now, I agree that all Moto's, regardless of carrier, are ridiculously inefficient electrically. They are such battery hogs compared to any other mfgr's phones, again regardless of carrier. Moto's are just plain battery hogs and there is no excuse for that.
...
yes, moto's have been really good to me too. i would much rather prefer the regular GSM versions of the UI, but any works for me. I just think that the GSM versions of moto's are easier.

I totally agree that Moto's (with a few exceptions) are battery hogs. That's been my experience as well.
But here's my question; does that even really matter? I mean, how difficult is it to plug in a cellphone every night anyway? I could see if it was an issue of it not holding a charge all day long, especially with heavy usage, but if that's not the case, then so what?
I really don't need a phone that will go 1 to 2 w...

...
Well, it's not a problem for me because I have a total of four batteries (two from the old i55sr and two from the current i560). I rotate them through the phone, and the one that was in the phone all day goes into the desktop charger at night. So I always have a fresh battery when I start the day, plus a couple of spares in my briefcase. I have never been without a viable cellphone battery, even though my Nextel is powered on 24/7/365 (elderly parents, so I make certain that they can reach me any time day or night).
I'm a little bummed out that when I get my next Nextel phone, I'll have to buy the spare battery and a new desktop charger all over again, and Nextel really sticks it to you if you buy genuine Nextel power accessories (except ...

Yeah, the phones that they make for Nextel are so freakn ugly and big! π³
...
Yep. Not only ugly but also horrible RF performance.

Motorolas are a mixed bag. Some are great, some, not so great.
Consumer Reports and JD Powers rank many Moto phones at the top of their consumer satisfaction polls, and usually, that is a much better indication of whether or not a paricular device is worth considering, as opposed to whether or not people who sell wireless service like them.
In other words, people who buy the phones and use them are a better indication of the worthiness they have rather than a wireless sales rep who just hears complaints about them all day long.
...
That is why you can never trust those JD Powers. (I do not.) Motorola has been giving out to consumers the Nokia effect.
...
I'm not a big fan of JD Powers, either. Usually though, if both they and Consumer Reports are in agreement on any given product or service, you can pretty much bank on it.
Motos though, are a mixed bag. Some of their phones are great (i90 Nextel), and some are flops (i730 Nextel). If I were buying a regular Sprint PCS phone, I'd probably go with the Sanyos. They seem to garner praise from everyone, from the consumer groups to retailers alike.
...
Consumer Reports doesnt know their @ss from a hole in the ground. When they rank Panasonic's plasma tv as the best, they're on crack. When they rated Kodak's digital cameras ahead of Canon, I lost any faith in them.
...
That is why it is tough to believe both Consumer Reports and JD Powers. I think a huge factor to see if a device is popular or whatever widget you want is to see how much revenue that company sells of that widget or device.
...
The i1000 plus was a great phone too. There are others for the IDEN side but with the CDMA side, I donβt see a lot especially after the first release.
...
hey as a tech rep i dont hear about them i deal with them all day!! screw what JD Power says when it comes to MOTO'S they suck, talk to any tech rep that deals with them at least on the sprint side and you will get the same answer everytime.

I'm not a big fan of JD Powers, but Consumer Reports is a very reputable organization that represents the views and experiences of thousands of readers who use and test the products in question every day.
I'll take the word of thousands of people who use a product daily over that of any Sprint tech or sales person. Most people who work on stuff rarely make wise purchases themselves.
Case in point; most mechanics drive Fords or Chevrolets, the t...

hey well then go head and get ur sprint moto. ill be waiting for ur call when ur having issues with it. π
...
At least you won't be like the lonely Maytag repair man. π
...
hey i have moto and i havnet called a tech yet. π
...
hey jrfdsf, i totally agree with you on that!
...
Thanks! π Hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The Sanyo phones are probably more reliable, but personally, I've had great luck with Moto's. π
I've used Motorola products on at least three carriers (Verizon, Cingular, Nextel), and liked all of them. My first flip was an i60 on Cingy.
When I moved to Nextel, I got an i90. I still have this phone, and it still works fine, but the text messaging (browser based) is outdated, and my ic502 has much better web browsing capabilities.
Besides, if phones didn't break down much, those repair center folks would be out of a job! π€£
...
lol totally agree!! they would be sitting at home looking at the papers for new jobs. i had a lot of motos and my parents are using motos i had great luck with them, no problems here. go moto!! my opinion..people who say motos break and stuff dont seem to take care of there phones thats why

I hate Motorola on Sprint, especially the Razr. The menu is slow and I can dail an entire number before it shows up on the screen. The c290 was the same and had horrible signal.

I work as a phone tech for Sprint/Nextel at my store. Out of 100 phones a month, roughly 90 are Motorola, LG is the next worst manufactuer but they are coming back with some great phones. Heck I have one!
...
Wow there are so many mixed and negative about motorola, my mom has the red razr from sprint on the day it came out, and its been a year and she has the same razr, no problems or any trouble. i went from a krzr to the new razr 2 and i havent got any problems with them.. i have no idea where all the negativity is coming from. If you take good care of your phone it will take care of you, if you abuse it..well..ofcoarse its going to crap out. Overall, i love moto's! specially my razr 2! And i hear on this forum that razr on sprint suck?? so does that mean i have to go to t-mobile or cingular(AT&T) to get a better razr then?? hmmm.... π³
...
VZ rep piping up that Motocrap is prevalent in our world as well; many reps despise Moto, including myself.
...
so why do you despise moto?? i mean i have moto and havent got any problems. i love them. any many reps are saying that motos make better phones for other carriers except VZ and sprint...why?? there all the same i think.. or maybe i should go to AT&T then?? lol
...
most old school sprint people hate moto because they have been indoctrinated over the years by the company culture to hate it prior to the merger. don't believe everything you hear. the assertion that they don't peform well on RF is speculation and has not been substantiated. i love mine. give it a chance and see if it meets your personal expectations.
...
your totally right phonrep01, its like a chain reaction. people tend to believe rumors and hype, u know?? i love moto's never had any problems with them.
...
individual experience will be the ultimate decider for all; in my experience, Moto's have sucked. On Cingular, Sprint, and VZ. the one moto that I've recommended is the 325/i. Anything else has been warrantied and unexplained software issues, from the v557 with Cingular to the universal Razr to the Q. I have Sanyo, and will stay with them. O, and I've been brainwashed; that's the reason. Brainwashed with all the $ coming out of my stores and pockets with the crap Moto puts out.
...
And I despise Moto. LG FTW.
...
I work for Verizon and literally every single person I know that sells them for VZW hates them too, they are junk.
...
I have Verizon and I hate Moto phones. I just think their phones are cheaply built, don't last long and aren't worth the price.
...
If cheaply built phones are made out of titanium and glass (v9m), then I guess I like cheap phones. Also, it appears moto has addressed the issue of slow processor and it can run sprints UI. I think this will be a good, high quality phone and a substantial improvement over the first one.

Just last week alone, I have dealt with several Sprint customers, VERY UPSET, with the Moto Q for several dis-functions of their Q.
Most common issue I've seen, and happen to fix most, but not all, is Moto Q's Internet explorer. When the customer is trying to log on, the Q indicates, "unable to place call".
Sometime you can reset the phone with a hard re-set or refurb. Or sometimes you can re-assign a new ip/nai, and update Power Vision profile, and it may work.
I've called every tech support through Sprint, CE, my good friend at Sprint University in tech support, Moto's tech support, and NONE OF THEM couldn't get the solution fixed on the Moto Q.
This isn't the customers fault, and Moto wants the customer to mail their Q in so t...

To make an analogy here: Sanyos are like the nice girl you take home to your parents. They're reliable and user-friendly but not much to look at.
Motos are that wild slut you took to the prom. They're unreliable and treat you like crap, but they sure are fun and great to look at.
...
I always liked taking the sluts to meet my mother...
...
welcome to Moto Q hell....we at VZ have been dealing with it for a while too. Some people still have no problems with them, but even the new Q9m has crap for connections speeds, and is buggy!
