SPRINT NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE

I was at the John Mayer concert yesterday and the concert was sponsored by the Blackberry Curve. I wanted to check out the phone and let me tell you I was impressed. I have waited to buy a PDA phone until Sprint had a decent one in the lineup, however, after looking at the "same old, same old" I decided I may pay out my contract and switch. I am not real happy about it as I have been with sprint since 1998 when they launched in Cincinnati. Anyone know if Sprint will be getting this phone?? I am not interested in the ultra bulky new new PDAs that sprint currently has on the market. Sprint will need to step up to the plate or they will keep up with the current trends. They continue to modify lower end phones and hold on to old models. Without ...

First off Snuggles, don't assume I have any allegiance to one carrier or another because I don't. Secondly, anyone even mildly resourceful would do research on their own before posing a question. If you don't like the responses that I or any of the other members of this forum (whom by the way do not all work for Sprint but are by no means prohibited from participating in the "Sprint" portion of these forums) then don't continue to post questions on this site.

"Google must be down..."

I understand your loyalty, hey I worked for sprint for 4 years after college and even managed a store for them for 19 months. All that being said, I would gladly stay a customer if they would compete with the rest of the marketplace and have handsets that are up to date and relevent. By only offering lowering end handsets and a few high end unappealing PDA's they have clearly defined their target market. I understand, everyone has to have mobile service, however, by not offering a range of phones that appeales to the entire marketplace they are setting themselves up to become the "churn and charge-off" kings. No sane business person wants to carry a phone that is a bulky as a small laptop, they will just carry the...

*scratches head*

But Sprint IS getting the Curve, hence why I made the comment, a simple search in Google would have revealed that. I also seem to recall Verizon and AT&T carry iterations of PDAs and smart phone devices (like the Treos) as well which are not 2nd gen PDAs with a cellular radio in them. Which laptop sized phones might you be referring to anyway? Personally, I'd rather that Sprint *didn't* carry Motorola products because Moto simply has lost it's market share and innovation

Yes, I do agree Sprint's customer care and billing systems do need improvement and they are in the process of working on those aspects.

I hardly think that sprint is "behind the times" so to speak. I just think they are looking too far ahead into the future (them putting all their eggs in the wimax basket) and not paying attention to the current time.

i agree BUT if it is a sucess we will be like 10 yrs ahead of the competition and think of the diversity in phone we will have. we will be waiting on others to catch up with us, OR it can go horribly wrong and sprint is up for sale....

AT&T Looks Beyond HSPA
Jun 14, 2007, 5:40 PM source: Wireless Week

AT&T Vice President Chris Hill today revealed the carrier is looking to build out an LTE network for next generation voice and high speed data. Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the GSM Association's next specification beyond HSPA. It offers fast data speeds like mobile WiMax and is expected to be easier to deploy in large networks. The carrier has not announced when they will begin building out the new network, but it is part of a $20 billion project expected to take up to 10 years to complete.

Sprint is focusing more products that are going to benefit a demographic or 18-22 year olds. Which is not a bad thing considering these are the new customers that are coming to the table. If you think the we need to compete with a phone such as the iphone i can think of 2 that would smoke it...Samsung Upsatge, and Treo 755. The Blackberry phones are not the best phones to hit the market i mean seriously why pay 39.99 a month for data on something that you have limited capabilty with when you can get the Treo 755 slightly thicker then the curve and pay only $15 a month and have a ton more options. Is Sprint offering the biggest and best products out there...maybe not but they are offering things to benefit a customers wallet and give them mor...
