Go to setting then roaming then select 'roaming only' and then just sit back and wait for your cancellation letter 😉

Yes it would work they are holding firm to their 50 percent rule, just switch over to roam I bet it would only take a few billing cycle before you get your letter.

actually, ETF is prorated the longer you're on contract.

my problem is that I wanna cancel but I don't have free roaming, so this whole scheme wouldn't work...but it's DANG clever.
...

Not that clever, in order to work you'd have to:
1. Be on a single line plan, meaning an individual line with only one line on the account
2. Have roaming included in the plan, if you pay for roaming they won't cancel it.
3. Roam on chosen towers. Certain roaming agreements in certain areas cost sprint more money, thats why some people roam for years and hear nothing, some get cancelled after 3 months.

Its much easier to get a job and cell your phone to pay the ETF.

My Dad and I both have Sprint accounts, live in an area that Sprint doesn't service, and roam all the time. They have yet to cancel us and we have had service for over 2 years.

I wish they would cancel me though. I don't want their service and they are giving me a hardtime about trying to cancel. They hold you hostage to continue paying your bill or charge $200 per line to cancel even though you aren't getting their service.

that is what the trial period is for. why would you keep a phone that was not providing service in the first place?

My bill is normally $150 a month and I need to continue to pay that till I can cancel or pay $200 per line to cancel now. That is unfair when I have tried to stick it out for over a year with crappy service.

sorry to hear about your sitituation, but its from what POV you are looking at it, of course we know that 100% of our customers arent 100% truthfull all the time, so in order to prove that this address is legit we need something like a bill to show for it (being we dont believe someone will move into a new home for a few months just to get out of a contract). although you can send your mail for china if you'd like and still be in the same home at which you started your contract. no offence to you, but customers need to start looking from the inside out and see where we are coming from instead of what they believe should be done when, where, and how THEY think it should be done.

My bill has been sent to the same place in Maine where I get crappy reception for the last year. How am I going to be deceptive. I get mail there...ie-my bill and the Sprint map clearly shows no Sprint reception there...and my phone service not working well proves it.

you dont get it cause your thinking about yourself and not letting anything else sink in.
so let me put it this way, give me your address and i'll have me mail sent there from now on so that in a few months i can just tell sprint i "live" there now and have me service cancelled.

another example: i have been living at the same location for 2yrs and still receive mail from a previous resident. does that she is still living in my closet? no.

not saying that you are lying by any means, what i am trying to do is let you see it from a different perspective, so just fax a phone, electric or some other type of bill with your name on it at that address and it will be done, simple as that.

I do get it but what I'm saying is that its a two way street. They need to be nice, helpful, and not screw with peoples accounts for customers to not be pissed off and argue about wanting to cancel service and just have it done & not need to jump through hoops.

So its ok for them to renew my contract on 2 lines till 2010 without my consent and I should just shut up, not complain, let them rip me off, and jump through whatever hoops they want.

So the ALMIGHTY SPRINT can do whatever they want and people just need to take it in the rear & like it. They renewed it till 2010 without my permission and once I found out I could have just stopped paying the bill. However, they would just then report me to the Credit Bureau & Collection Agencies and nothing I could do about it back except say they are F-ing people over when & however they feel like but have it fall of deaf ears.

Dude please tell me What is you arguement about not having service or customer service 'being nice' to you. I was confused reading ur post. If you didn't renew your contract you can fight it by having the convo bought up from Sprint on the date of the renewal. I've seen customers who contracts were renewed without their consent and I've seen customers who "forgot" they renewed, so you have to understand why were usually skeptical about what customers say because 80% of the time we deal with people just trying to get over.

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to cancel at the end of my contract. I was just going to stick it through, wait till the end of it, and then cancel...WHY WOULD I RENEW THEN "FORGET" I RENEWED when on the day they said I did it I was in an Analog Roam zone and couldn't take or place calls.

Now, I'm just through and want to be done with Sprint now.

I just have no faith or loyalty to a company that is rude when I have to deal with them and changes things on my account without my permission. I've tried to stick it out till the end of my contract but I just don't see the point in continuing to waste my money when there are not providing me with anything that is worth what I pay. I pay $150 per month to get a hardtime by a very rude Customer Care when I need their help and they go & renew this contract or change that plan without my consent. They aren't supposed to just go around and make plan changes without them being asked to.

if there is a corporate store in the area (which there probably isn't) i would go and talk to a store rep and let them know your problems. how much time is left on your contract?

I understand why you would be leary of customer care. but there shouldnt be a problem as long as you live outside of the service area. retention department may be a better department to talk to so that they can resolve your issue if cc does not come through

i dont think this is gonna work. they dont hold customers to 50% rule anymore and if they did they would just charge you out the a$$ for all minutes after 50%. if someone tries it and has some proof they should post about it cus this would be kick a$$ though!

No, it's all legit.

It also depends on the situation, but I had cingular, and made 90% calls off network, and they mailed me a letter telling me to stop calling off network or they'd shut me off.

I also have a friend who had AT&T, but his whole family got shut off for the same reason.

This scam totally would work. They can't charge for roaming when they agree to free roaming on the contract. They'd just kick you off after a few months.

But if you're paying $150 a month, just cancel and save yourself trouble, sheesh.

What's funny is Sprint gives you roaming included for free. As soon as they make ya'll pay for it again ya'll will complain and moan. I hope that happens, because this is fraud that you guys are committing. It's just wrong and it shows the unloyalness you guys give, so my question to you guys is; Why should these cell phone carriers grant your every wish when you will be unhappy within months of having the contract? If you wanna really make a difference why don't ya'll fight for the carriers to go back to 1 year contracts.
