- Highest-ever net income of $847 million, a year-over-year increase of over 280 percent
ATLANTA, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless LLC, which is a joint venture of AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS), today reported record-setting net income of $847 million for the third quarter, which is a year-over-year increase of over 280 percent.

I actually think Cingular did a great job with this 3rd quarter and I think they will do even better during the 4th quarter as well and checks also are indicating that. Last year during the 3rd quarter they signed up only 867,00 subscribers and this year on the 3rd quarter they signed up 1.358 million. Last year during the 4th quarter, they signed up 1.82 million customers, and based on the metrics we are seeing I think they could be in that range or perhaps even seek that 2 million customers especially when more HSDPA markets become online. Right now, they have 58.66 million customers and if they even get 1.82 million customers like they did last year during the 4th quarter they will easily hit the 60 million number. I think by early to mi...

i say end of december... only because they don't advertise heavy until after thanksgiving... and with the holiday promos, and the anticipation of the at&t change over i am sure there will be a big push for new activations closer to the end of the year...

Reading is fundamental, try it...

Cingular operates the nation's largest digital voice and data network. GSM is the world's most widely used wireless technology. Through roaming alliances with other GSM-based providers around the world, Cingular provides the largest global presence of any U.S. wireless carrier, with voice coverage in nearly 190 countries and data roaming in 115.

By having roaming alliances/agreements with other carriers, this allows Cingular to have the largest footprint in terms of coverage.

TMobile probably has more native coverage in other countries outside of the USA, but how many roamin...

so why are you posting this as a response to mine? but isn't it funny that they do have native coverage in more countries than cingular, but we can offer roaming in more areas than they can... and worldwide tmo has roughly 90 million, just over 30 mill more than cingular serves in one country...
