V3i = No Edge?
I was thinking about upgrading my V557 to the V3i but found out it's not edge enabled? Does anyone know when and what the V3 edge phone will be out?

My bf gets faster speeds with his SLVR (GPRS) than I did with my (R.I.P) 😢 V551 "EDGE" No wonder why they stopped producing EDGE chips. THEY SUCKED!!!! I am so sick of Motorola BTW. I will never buy another Moto product....

the probelm w/ the edge chips only apply to motorola? because i have a samsung d407 and it has edge and i would say its pretty fast, noticable from gprs, but i heard motorola didnt put edge chips in their phones because they believe cingular's edge network isnt all that great or some other problem, so they stayed w/ gprs, im not sure tho

Yes, motorola had defective chips so they stopped producing them.

The v551 and the v557 edge speeds were a joke. Plus the phones drops call like they were hot. Motorola could not fix these problems Cingular pulled the v557 really quick.

That statement is not accurate. Motorola decided not to carry the phone due to price point issues. It had nothing to do with phone reliability.

The next RAZR style phone will have UMTS. They will be skipping over EDGE due to production supply issues with EDGE chipsets.
