How easy is it to get these phones unlocked? I spend some time in other countries, and already have sim cards there...

Thanks!

Man, it's easy if it's a Nokia. Just do a google search for "nokia unlock codes."
I did mine in 2 minutes.

but remember though that you have to pay to get it unlocked, once it is, and you need to do any warranty on the phone, the service center as part of repairing locks the phone again to the carrier that it was originally locked for.

I already had a customer call in and argue over that, and wanted to be compensated, unfortunately we could not since it was originally locked and the manufacutrer just put it back to when it first sold.the customer was UPSET 😕

This is great! Thanks for the info... I am with verizon, and thinking of switching to Cingular... Verizon has great coverage, but I hate the phones they offer! I want a phone that syncs with Outlook, and they only offer the very expensive smart phones!

If you don't , are you thinking of getting an unlocked phone to use on Verizon, if i misunderstood, i apologize, but if i did read this right, then Verizon's and cingulars phones are different technologies, so would not be compatable, if i read the post wrong, then nvermind.

Sorry, I probably did not explain correctly. I have Verizon, but I am thinking of switching to Cingular. I like the idea of GSM for my travels abroad, and the cooler phones that Cingular carries 🙂

Best thing to do, is buy a new cingular service at a corporate retail location with a brand new cingular phone, if you travel make sure you buy a world phone, the phones have the North America and international Frequency bands, and after 90 days of continuous uninterupted service through cingular you then can request for cingular to unlock it, and they will.ask jackie she might be able to help you out, she is a corp store rep.

Yeah.. In store you can bring it in and we send a request through Tier II tech. There are also other ways to get it done, but that is the best way! 🙂

Yes, I am thinking of getting this phone directly with Cingular. Through the corporate discount it comes out at a pretty good price! I will then go through Cingular to get it unlocked.

Thanks for the feedback!
