When I was still a CSR here I HATED those calls.. No, in general, the answer is simply no.
Not saying 100% of the time no, but I am saying probably 85-90% of the time.
If you're wanting a new phone for the sake of getting a new phone, then you are gauranteed to not get an early upgrade.
I was looking at the Bold, and told the guy I'm no where near eligible and he said you don't have to be. Just add $70 to the $300 and that's your price.
I called CS to see if that was just something the store was doing and they said no, they do it too.
I guess its a good deal depening on the phone you plan on getting.
When you first think about it, it kinda sounds like a rip off.
But depending on the phone you want and your upgrade status, its a good deal.
Any store can do an exception upgrade. The main criteria is that you have to have had your existing phone for at least 6 months, which you do. Exception pricing is $75 higher than the standard upgrade price, but you do get your rebate.
It might behove you to wait until February.
