I've been out of the phone game for a while now. I'm considering bouncing from Verizon to AT&T. What are there current top 5 (or however many you want to tell me about) and why?
...
1. inferior network
2. inferior customer service
3. dropped calls
4. can upgrade less often
5. get less of a discount on phones at upgrade time
Verizon is better then at&t. why would you be switching?
...
Maybe where this person lives, their service is not so good? Doesn't matter how good a network is if you don't get reception in the places you use it most.
...
I wish these Verizon plants would go away. I have Verizon and it is far from great. I drop calls on the Eisenhower expressway(chicago) so often I know which mile marker I should end my conversations by. Further, they hamstring their phones like no one else in the business. Remember when their bluetooth was disabled so they could charge you to add stuff to your phones? I'm leaving Verizon as soon as my plan is up in 2 weeks.
...
If you are dropping calls alot in Chicago you probably have a bad phone. Chicago is one of VZWs best coverage areas in the country. they are always ranked #1 in Chicago for network performance every year. the Chicago Sun Times has done mini drive testing and for the past 5 years has stated VZW is far and away best in chicago.
get a new phone. test drive it for 30 days. problem will likely be solved.
...
VZW and AT&T drop calls about the same rate, in my experience (Dallas). But there were a lot more times where VZW wouldn't connect in the first place. Reliable network my a$$. 👿
...
do you play AC wonko?
...
Since I don't know what AC is, I guess not.
...
I think he meant Asherons call.
...
thats exactly what I meant!
do/did you play?
...
Its not even just dropping calls at that one particular spot, there is no coverage there to even call out at that spot. Ride the stretch near Harlem ave. and you'll see what I mean.

I've driven that route many times and I have VZW with no problems whatsoever.. It must be your phone (SERIOUS)..

LMAO!!!! So when ATT customer's drop calls its b/c the network sucks, but when Verizon customers drop calls its b/c their phone sucks..... you truly are special 😁
...
dropped calls can be caused by a bad network or a bad phone. you should know this. if someone tells you they have att and they drop calls all the time in (insert name of one of the best att coverage areas in the nation) you would probably assume the phone is bad, would you not?
...
I was simply pointing out a fact that in every post you have ever replied to on this forum about poor coverage you have blamed ATT's "inferior network". Never once have I seen you post anything about it possibly being an issue with the customer's phone unless it is something related to your beloved Verizon.
Feel free to prove me wrong if you can find a post that you have done on this forum stating otherwise - good luck!

You can't solve crappy phones... VZW is the worst ever. That's why they spend so much money on marketing to make sure you know they have a great network. At&t is the largest all digital network and is a technology that is used world wide and VZW's technology is only used in about 6 countries around the world. There are gonna people who like either one but over all they are the same thing just different colors. They have the same price's for rate plans and features. If your fed up with VZW let them go... MidnightDT you need to chill with your words about at&t... They are leading VZW in all areas so get a life.
At&t has great cust ser.
Great prices on phones.
Have phones that no one else has.
They also have the largest all digital netw...

att is leading in all areas? thats funny. the quarterly results reports that I see every quarter that have vzw ahead of att in nearly all metrics nearly all quarters must be misleading me. or maybe JD Power and consumer reports ranking VZW far higher then att in nearly everything is also misleading.
where should I be looking to see this info?

and just where did that network come from?
It was Ameritech's. They divested it when SBC bought them. VZW picked it up and then dumped their own network off to someone else.
...
why is it relevant to anything or anyone where the network came from? the towers are owned by Verizon Wireless, Managed by VZW, Upgraded and monitored by VZW.
...
not to mention it is CDMA....
...
you're missing the point. The network was build by AT&T (Ameritech) and at that time got the same accolades
...
People like you are BRAINWASHED by "it's the network" advertisements.
And by the way you can upgrade just as often on AT&T as you can with Verizon, they just don't call it "new every 2" that's all.
...
Wow. Great way to back your opinion with facts and information. What are you, five years old?

On a serious note, I cannot say what the top best sellers are across the board, but at my store they are:
Blackberry (curve more than the pearl)
LG Shine (national TV ad helped make it trendy, but it does not have the strongest signal strength and battery is so so, IMO. But if you live in a strong signal area and don't talk on it nonstop, it's got a nice look and feel)
Sansung 747 (small, inexpensive, standard issue slider)
Sony w580i (marketed as a lifestyle phone/walkman music player, the greatest thing about this slider is talk time, easily one of the top. Keys are not really made for heavy texting, I have seen more than one come back with keys cracking in the middle, each time the user was a very regular texter)
Nokia 6...

...
Correction,
Samsung 747 is the SLM, a slim (hence the name) clamshell with mid-to-high end feature set (3G, 2MP camera, MP3, stereo BT, etc...)
Samsung 737 is slider.
FYI
...
Oops, you are correct. My mistake. 🤭
...
and the slim is not that great of a phone, poor earphone, seems to be a trend with Samsung these days.

I've used VZW, TMO, AT&T, and Sprint. And in my experience AT&T and Sprint offer the best voice quality. Next would be TMO and lastly is VZW.
With AT&T you can swap phones as quickly as you can pick on up off E-Bay and AT&T has almost as a big coverage area as VZW plus AT&T's phones work overseas.
AT&T and VZW are the most expensive carriers but you get what you pay for.
