But, there was an article in the last 2 weeks or so (I can't find it now, but it was forwarded to us by our call center manager) that quoted a higher up from Cingular as saying that cuts in front line customer service will not occur, but cuts in other areas would more than likely occur after the first of the year.
This was not a company article or anything. It was posted by a news agency, I just cannot remember who posted it. I am still trying to find it.
The bottom line is that post-merger, front lines reps will be needed. Now, I have heard for several months that the smaller call centers are the ones in danger, but not for a long while.
