One or Two year contract?

All you folks out there, the way the cellular things are now, you would have to be insane to pick a " 2 year contract". Yes you may save some money by doing so. No matter how a company treat you, it's a great feeling knowing you have the option to leave in 12 months.
Since 1996, I have had three different carriers, and I've found out that it pays to do your research.

Yes, it does pay to do your research.

1 yr vs 2 yr contract just depends on the person you ask. Personally I won't go for 2 yr contracts. But if someone doesn't really mind, they might find the benefits to outweight the committment. To each his own.

I have found that the 1yr/2yr contracts run in cycles. When I first started with AWS, we were just coming out of a 2yr phase, when everyone else was still full steam ahead with theirs. That last for about 2yrs, and now we are back in a 2yr phase again. I work with a trainer who has been with AWS for about 11yr (Cellular One before AWS) and she said the same thing. For a couple of years, companies will focus on two year contracts, then go back to 1 yr deals. Same thing with free phones.

All in all, I think 2yr deals are pretty good. I personally would not have recommended a 2yr deal about a month ago, but with all the promos AWS is offering (7pm start time, unlmtd m2m and the customers first program), I think it's worth it.

i had a 1 year contract and it expired this past september (2003) i've chosen to stick on a month to month contract for the fact that i still have the same plan i started with....unlimited minutes day, night, weekends, holidays, etc. for the measly
price of a "c" note, not to mention the discounts i get for being on a foundation account. 😲

See now that plan I wouldnt touch. But in some markets now 39.99 1000 peak min, unlimited n/w after 9pm, LD, new cust pricing on a phone every 12 months, unlimited mtm. Just bite the bullet for a phone now if you need one and thats a lot more min then anyone else is giving i think.
